Stringer Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir

JASPER, Texas (Oct. 1, 2007) - Boater Bradley Stringer of Huntington, Texas, won the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Cowboy Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 29 pounds, 12 ounces. The victory earned Stringer $5,927 plus a $1,045 Ranger contingency bonus and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Wright Patman Lake Regional Championship in Texarkana, Texas, Oct. 25-27, where he could ultimately win a new 519VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

   Stringer caught his bass throwing a worm Texas-rigged near bumps and creek beds.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Tommy Howard of Brookeland, Texas (eight bass, 27-08, $3,486); Chris McCall of Jasper, Texas (10 bass, 26-15, $2,324); Lindy Hadley of Sam Rayburn, Texas (nine bass, 26-01, $1,627) and Brandon Crouch of Buna, Texas (10 bass, 25-15, $1,395).

   Walt Roberts of Vidor, Texas, took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $1,027 for a 7-pound, 2-ounce bass that he caught on a frog in lily pads.

   Robert Hill of Fort Worth, Texas, earned $3,487 as the co-angler winner thanks to seven bass weighing 24 pounds, 4 ounces that he caught while fishing a crankbait in 4 to 6 feet of water near brush piles.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Richard Earle of Youngsville, La. (six bass, 23-12, $1,743); Randy Hicks of Lumberton, Texas (10 bass, 21-03, $1,161); Lynn Shivers of Kirbyville, Texas (seven bass, 20-07, $814) and Thomas Johnson of La Marque, Texas (10 bass, 19-07, $697).

   Hill also earned $514 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 8-pound, 9-ounce bass that he caught on a watermelon worm near brush piles.
