HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Aug. 5, 2013) – Mark Flick of Delton, Mich., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 14 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Michigan Division tournament on Lake St. Clair. For his victory, Flick earned $5,466.

Flick mined a spot he found while pre-fishing for the EverStart series event held on the Detroit River the week prior. “I found it by accident two weeks ago while I was trying to stay out of a thunderstorm,” said Flick. “It was a long shallow point that had current on it, and the fish were relating to shell beds in 4 to 6 feet of water. When I found it in pre-fish, there was a lot of floating grass in the water and the way it flowed showed me the current seams. There were fish all around it, but the 4-pounders were actually in the shallower water.

“I fished about a 200 square-foot area,” said Flick. “There were other boats around me but they weren’t catching them. I think the reason was that I was throwing a Lunch Money Lures Triple Dip Tube. It is a really big tube and the slow fall seemed to be key.”
