Tramel Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Old Hickory

GALLATIN, Tenn. (July 2, 2012) – Josh Tramel of Smithville, Tenn., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 16 pounds, 7 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Music City Division tournament on Old Hickory Lake. For his victory, Tramel earned $3,021.

    

“I fished real slow,” said Tramel. “The area I was fishing had a lot of pressure on it, and I think my slow presentation really helped.

“I was fishing deep structure on the main river channel with jigs and worms,” Tramel continued. “Old Hickory is usually pretty tough fishing in the summer, but I think the slow presentation made the difference for me on Saturday.”

Rounding out the top 10 boaters were:

2nd:      Ryan Haykal, Hendersonville, Tenn., five bass, 14-8, $1,511

3rd:      Tim Messer, Hendersonville, Tenn., five bass, 13-14, $1,007

4th:       Jayson Johnson, Smithville, Tenn., five bass, 13-0, $705

5th:       Brandon Edel, Hendersonville, Tenn., five bass, 12-7, $604

6th:       Tim Cranford, Hendersonville, Tenn., five bass, 12-6, $554

7th:       Jeff Lokken, Lebanon, Tenn., five bass, 12-2, $504

8th:       Jake Myers, Gallatin, Tenn., five bass, 11-10, $453

9th:       Scott Brummett, Brentwood, Tenn., five bass, 11-1, $403

10th:     Matt Stanley, Alexandria, Tenn., five bass, 10-14, $352

          

John Wilkerson of Nashville, Tenn., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 13 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win $1,511 in the co-angler division.

Rounding out the top 10 co-anglers were:

            3rd:   Gary Gray, Nashville, Tenn., four bass, 12-7, $504

            4th:    Ken Best, Murfreesboro, Tenn., five bass, 12-6, $352

            5th:    Denny Strunk, Tullahoma, Tenn., five bass, 10-5, $302

            6th:    Derek Stone, Walling, Tenn., four bass, 9-11, $277

            7th:    Greg Barnes, Rock Island, Tenn., three bass, 8-13, $252

            8th:    Craig Allen, Lebanon, Tenn., three bass, 8-9, $227

            9th:    Billy Watson, Readyville, Tenn., five bass, 7-13, $201

            10th: Rod Huff, Monterey, Tenn., five bass, 7-11, $176

                   

The next BFL Music City Division tournament is scheduled for Sept. 22-23 on Old Hickory Lake in Gallatin, Tenn. After the fifth Music City Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 4-6 Regional Championship on Cherokee Lake in Morristown, Tenn. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy Silverado, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.
