BENTON, Ky. – William Davis of Sheffield, Ala., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 21 pounds, 2 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League LBL Division tournament on Kentucky/Barkley lakes. For his victory, Davis earned $4,119.

“It was a really tough day out there,” said Davis. “I was very fortunate to get a few big bites from three different spots. I had around 50 bites throughout the day, but I really only had four big ones. The bite was better in the morning and then slowed down.”

Davis stayed on Kentucky Lake for the entire tournament and targeted the ledges from 18 to 20 feet deep. He caught most of his fish with a shaky-head rig, and said plum was the hot color for the day.

“The key to my victory was my co-angler,” Davis continued. “I had forgotten my net, so he had to ‘net’ all of my fish with his hands. He was very good, though, and he definitely helped me win the tournament.”
