BENTON, Ky. (June 18, 2012) – Mark Rose of West Memphis, Ark., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League LBL Division tournament on Kentucky/Barkley Lakes. For his victory, Rose earned $6,584.

“Well I had spent the week prior to this event fishing the FLW Tour here,” said Rose, who has career earnings of more than $1.4 million on the FLW Tour. “After that tournament, I was really just mad at the lake. It just didn’t work out for me in that event, so I had planned to come back to redeem myself and fish just for fun. A friend of mine told me about the BFL event that was scheduled, so I signed up on Friday. I just fished the same stuff as I had during the Tour event, and this time it worked out the way it was supposed to.

“I was fishing Kentucky Lake, from the mid-lake area down to the dam,” Rose continued. “I was targeting the ledges, around 18 to 22 feet deep. I threw a few different baits throughout the day. I found success using a Strike King 6XD crankbait and Strike King Swimbaits. I also caught quite a few on the Alabama Rig. I caught around 25 fish pretty steadily throughout the day. My knowledge of the Tennessee River chain and the summertime pattern was the key to my victory this time. Now, it’s time to get ready for Lake Champlain.”
