GLASGOW, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2012) – Brad Roberts of Faubush, Ky., had a two-day total of nine bass that weighed 27 pounds to win the Bass Fishing League Mountain Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on the Barren River Sunday. For his victory, Roberts earned $5,126 plus $2,000 Ranger Cup bonus.
Catching over 70 bass on the final day, Roberts said he went through a lot of small fish to find the keepers. Because the shallow fish were heavily pressured he indicated that he spent half the days shallow in about 2 to 3 feet of water and the other half days in over 20 feet of water.
“I started each day shallow,” Roberts said. “I was flipping and pitching a Zoom Brush Hog and mixing it up with some topwater stuff early. Then about three of four hours into the day I moved deeper to do some off-shore fishing. I was targeting hard bottoms with a heavy football jig. It felt really good to get this victory.”
