Savage Gear Baits: https://bit.ly/371InJz
Glenn: Hey, folks. It's Glenn May here with bassresource.com. I'm here with Más with Savage Gear. Más creates. He's the designer behind these wild baits that have been some of the most popular swim baits that are out there on the market today. You've got to see what he's come up with now, here at the 2016 ICAST. Más, what do you have here?
Más: Well, this is the new 3D Gizzard shad. And I've painted the Gizzard shad. Here's a Golden Shiner. The scan is actually off a Golden Shiner. But the profile is very similar to the Gizzard shad. We've modified the Line Thru System a little bit because this has a real wide glide. So I wanted to have the trebel hook on the outside of the bait. So when the bass just comes up and push it, they'll get hooked on that. So with a little Line Thru Modifier, just a little simple stainless steel hook there, that makes it out for the hook. But you can still rig this bait with a hook inside the lure, just like you can with all the existing Line Thru Trout. And the Line Thru Modifier will fit on the Line Thru Trout as well.
Glenn: Mm-hmm.
Más: So that's the Gizzard shad right there.
Glenn: So that'll catch those bass that are slapping at the bait.
Más: That's right. That's right. And for the Gizzard shad here, we've got two sizes. So this is a true 10-inch. So this is the 7-inch. As you can see, those two sizes are just perfect for your all around bass fishing.
Glenn: Nice. Those look awesome.
Más: Thank you.
Glenn: And they look great in the water, too.
Más: Yeah, super swimming action. As you know, with all the savage Gear baits, we work a lot with the action to make sure that they get bit.
Glenn: Mm-hmm. Well, what else do you have here for us?
Más: Yeah, well, I guess the talk of the show really has been the Suicide Duck.
Glenn: The Suicide Duck, okay.
Más: Yeah, because this is real suicide, you know. You dress yourself up like a little duckling, like that. Super topwater bait. I wanted to make a very long casting topwater bait. So you can feel, it's real beefy, you know.
Glenn: Oh, yeah, it is. Yeah, definitely.
Más: So that one flies. So that's...
Glenn: Yeah, that weighs probably what?
Más: ...2 ounces.
Glenn: Two ounces, yeah. That's got some weight to it.
Más: And so you've got semi-soft feet that spins. And they spin perfectly when you retrieve that slow speed, high speed. And just creates a great bubble trail. And that profile just looks like a duck.
Glenn: Now you have two line ties here. What is that?
Más: Well, when it comes, it comes pre-rigged with a hook both on the chest and on the back. I prefer to fish it in the position in the beak. So you can attach it here. And it kind of compresses down on the water, like it's hiding, and it's afraid of birds from above. But then the fish just hit it hard. But when I tie it on the chest. I can actually make it like a sick duckling, you know, jumping, walk the dog style. At the same time, the feet are spinning. So really a versatile top water bait.
Glenn: If you run it really quick when it's hooked on the belly, it literally looks like a duck. And you've seen the baby ducks when they're running after their moms. It looks just like that.
Más: Exactly, and what it is, is the feet really grab the water. So when you're pulling it, it splashes more and more. You can almost not rip it out of the water.
Glenn: Wow, amazing.
Más: So 3-D Suicide Duck. And we've got an early introduction for this. So this is actually shipping within three weeks from from ICAST.
Glenn: Oh, no kidding? Wow.
Más: Mm-hmm, it's on the way.
Glenn: There's going to be a long waiting list for that.
Más: Yeah.
Glenn: You have another size on that, too?
Más: There's a baby size as well.
Glenn: Right here.
Más: Oh, yeah, we got...no, that's the other one. I'll just get a smaller one here. So you have the baby size here. So that comes in at 1 ounce. And then you've got the mamma here at 2 ounces.
Glenn: Excellent, excellent. What else do we have here? I see a couple things floating here that...
Más: There's a couple of other creepy stuff here.
Glenn: Weird stuff you can scare your sisters with here, guys.
Más: That's right.
Glenn: Or your wives.
Más: Well, we all do the rat bait. I always wanted to do a rat bait. But I needed to come up with a concept, and something that would set us apart. So the 3D scanning of a rat took me some time to get it perfect, but I've got an absolute stunner of a rat bait here. All little details, even down to the little nails on the feet, everything is just perfectly mimicking. You've got whiskers. You've got the whole thing going. Super hard ABS bait with a nylon mesh joint. And this special double clacking system here. So it's very noisy, as you can hear. You've got a little plate here that you can take out. So you can replace the tail. And the tail is actually mesh-reinforced. So there runs a braid cord inside. So you cannot pull it. It's really strong.
Glenn: That's great. So you don't have to...once it breaks, you're done. You can actually replace that.
Más: You can replace that. But it's a very durable tail.
Glenn: Does it comes with replacements?
Más: There's a replacement tail in the packing.
Glenn: There you go. What about the feet? I see there's the same soft material, too.
Más: These are the same soft material here.
Glenn: Can you replace those?
Más: Yeah, you can buy a maintenance kit. If you use this for pike and musky, of course at one point they will get destroyed. And then you can glue on new feet.
Glenn: I like that. And I see this one also has two different line ties. Explain those.
Más: Yeah, that's one interesting. You've got... Because you know, a water rat will very often dive. And a lot of the rat baits can only wake. So I wanted to make a bait that can either dive, or wake. When you tie it at the nose, he will dive 1 to 2 foot. When you tie it on the bill, he will only wake. And as you can see, we also made the option, if you want to fish that in very heavy snags. Or if fish are really spooked, and they'll see the hooks. You can remove the hooks on the belly, and just fish it with a stinger. So you tie the stinger here. And you clip the treble hook in the treble hook clip. And that will sit straight up like that.
Glenn: Perfect, what a versatile bait. You can use that in a variety of different conditions.
Más: That's why we spell it R-A-D, radical.
Glenn: Nice, awesome.
Más: Then this is one of my favorite baits. I always wanted that perfect blue gill imitation. So again, it's 3D scanning of blue gill and really working on all the details and making a super swim bait that you can fish at slow speed. You can crank it home. You can even use it on bed fishing. It's very easy to adjust the sink rate by just adding nails in the belly. So, again, super realistic swim bait from Savage Gear, 3D blue gill.
Glenn: Fantastic, I can see this and all these baits in my boat this year because these are just amazing. I don't know how you come up with all this stuff. But absolutely phenomenal, Más. Really, really phenomenal, I've got to hand it to you. This is amazing. And, guys, when this stuff comes out. When it hits the market. I think the blue gill is already out in the market now, yeah?
Más: The blue gill is out on the market. And we've got really great reviews on it. There's many anglers already coming with all sorts of cool mods on it. It comes in two sizes. The 5 inch here, as you can see, is with fixed hooks. So I wanted to put a treble hook both on the back and the belly. So it kind of gags the bass. And the big size, which is a full 6 inches, a Line Thru, just like the other Line Thrus.
Glenn: Awesome, awesome. You guys got to check this stuff out, when it comes out. I'm sure you've got to be on a waiting list when you order it. But you'll be glad when you get them. These are really cool.
Más: All right, thank you, guys.
Glenn: All right.
