  1. My in laws are really not into fishing, they thought I was crazy for freaking out over that fish, then they got mad because I let it go. They thought we would eat it lol.
  2. They are in San Miguel, no grass on them but there is alot of timber and logs that hold the fish. You cant see the timber anymore because the water is so high, but it is there. I call it a hump but it might actually be a ridge or underwater point, I think it runs all the way to the bank but its shallowest further away. It holds alot of fish all year.
  3. Not much of a report because I only made 3 cast all weekend due to having non fishing inlaws with me. We were just boat riding thursday afternoon and I stopped by a hump that I usually catch good on to make a few cast. On my 3rd cast, I caught a 11.5 pounder on top of the hump in 8 foot of water on a big watermellon red worm. It did not fit in the livewell on the boat that I was in so we just took pics and let it go. I have been fishing hard all year and I caught the biggest bass of my life just goofing off, I wish I had taken my boat out so I could have brought it into Toledo Town to get weighed but I guess that is how it goes.
  4. I found that the schooling bass were feeding on very small shad also, a Little George worked real good along with small spoons.
  5. The best top water baits for me seemed to be a rage tail shad if it was windy or a weightless lizard fished like a buzz bait if it was calm. The schooling fish were around deeper grass beds which can be hard to find in San Miguel but they are there, mostly on the north bank.
  6. Just got back from 2 weeks at the bend, I would have posted a report earlier but ATT restricted my service because I used too much data off network with my phone up there. I kind of caught all over San Miguel early and late, I fished top water early and right before dark and did well. Im still learning how to bass fish but I found that if it was windy, a bait that made alot of noise did better but if was calm, I would use a quiet bait that barely made a ripple and it would catch more. I fished the bank and out on underwater points and humps and caught on both. I had trouble catching 2 days in a row in the same spot for some reason and had to move around alot or try different baits. Later in the mornings or earlier in the afternoon I caught some of my bigger bass with a texas rig off of my brush piles in deeper water on drop offs or underwater points close to creeks. There are alot of bass schooling in the coves further back in San Miguel, sometimes there might be multiple schools at the same time but you can see which ones have the larger bass because they cut flips out the water chasing the shad.
  7. I am new on here, I have read all the posts from the past, there is a ton of great info in here and I wanted to say thanks. I have fished all my life, mainly saltwater so bass fishing, especially deep is new to me. I bought a Camper last year and keep it at San Miguel, I work 14 and 14 and I fished out there alot this past year. It is a great place to fish, I have spent the last year just learning San Miguel and I only fished about half of that area , but I learned it well. I am leaving tomorrow to stay up there for 2 weeks, I will post some reports.
