Chaz Hickcox Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Just got a package in. Just wondering what I should think about when throwing it. Am I thinking swimbait, jerkbait, or topwater. Or could it be all three. I remember seeing a post that these are the greatest soft plastic ever, we will see (as the zen master said). Quote
D4u2s0t Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Every rage tail bait i've thrown so far is so versatile that you will have luck doing anything you mentioned. Give it all a try and see what works 8-) Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Its a very versatile bait. My favorite way to fish it is weightless, with a VERY slow retrieve. The slower you go, the wider the wobble. You should probably play with it in clear water or near the boat first to get a feel for how slow you really need to go. Its easy to retrieve it too fast. Its also deadly on a light weight c-rig. 1/8 to 1/4 is good, use the lightest weight you can get away with depending on the wind. It can also be used as a topwater bait with a quick retrieve. This is great around grass, because you can bring the retrieve to a slow crawl in the pockets to get that wide sexy wobble. I was lucky enough to get a one-on-one tutorial on the bait from the creator, Big-O...and I was absolutely slaying them on this bait the first day I tried it. I hope you get the same results. A 4/0 ewg works perfect. Be sure to check out the ragetail website for rigging instructions/pictures. So far I haven't missed a fish on this bait. Quote
Big-O Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 This ought to help you out http://www.ragetail.com/news/09/eeliminator-rigging-instructions-important/ Like ETB said weightless and C-rigged are favorite methods to fish'em Have fun Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Chaz Hickcox Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 Used it today, weightless and with a split shot. I was in only about 2-3ft of water so the c-rig would have been a little excessive. I did the slow retrieve and liked it. However the only hit I had on it today got off about a foot from the boat. It was a dink though, so I am not sure if he got enough of it in his mouth for that 4/0 hook to work on him. This thing will be awesome for the C-rig though. Nice slow retrieve for the colder days. Today was all about the t-rigged worms and buzzbaits. Buzzbaits to find em, and the t-rig to get em in the boat. Hey as a side note, whenever I ask for tips on soft plastic why is it that the only advice I get is how to rig it? I got that much, now I am just trying to figure out the best application of the rig. Again, the eeliminator will definitely keep a place in my tackle box. It would be nice to have alternating colors though, like green pumpkin with chartreuse, orange pumpkin with chart, or a mixture thereof. Quote
