I don't get these guys, I see them everywhere. If I'm at a lake, some dudes wearing a Loomis hat fishing 2 different Abu rods, Go into a sports shop, some dudes wearing a Loomis hat looking at dobyns or lamaglas rods. I see a truck with a huge Loomis logo on it and the guy pulls out shakesphere or okuma combos...

Roughly I see more people sporting Loomis apparel then actually using something from them to fish. Am I missing something? Is it to make them look cooler than everyone else?

Not many people know that their logo is a Loomis logo, they just like it. Why do you care what someone else wheres? Its not like being part of a country club or something and you can only where those if you own one.

Well, you might want to stay inside then. Theres LOTS of that going around these days.

Cheaper to buy the hat and sticker than buy one of their rods

So what you are saying is that I shouldn't wear my Mercury shirt when fishing from my kayak. ;)

Guess I cant wear my OU hat/shirt any longer I never played football there. Thing is I was fishing today with my new JM Carbonlite reel Smoke rod while wearing a Team St Croix t-shirt. What people wouldnt know is at home I have 4 St Croix rods.

I do "see" though where you're coming from once you take notice of something like that it sticks out. Like when you buy a blue whatever truck you take notice of all the other blue whatever trucks.

You guys are missing the point, there's never a Loomis rod around them. At least you guys own the product or went to a school. If theses guys are so big into the product don't ya think you actually see them using one at least one time, cause I don't and I run into them a lot

It's a bit funny since the Loomis stereotype only uses Loomis rods and looks at everything else as severely below them, then see the exact opposite when your out on the water :tongue8:

I don't own any Loomis rods. I have used many of them, and at the IMX/GLX/NRX levels they are fine rods; they just don't fit my budget. With that said, I would wear the hat, t-shirt, or affix a Loomis sticker without giving it a second thought. I would wear a Porsche or Maserati hat or t-shirt if I had one, and I ain't likely to ever even drive one of those...if that makes me a poser then so be it. FWIW I fish with several guys who fish a variety of great tackle including Loomis rods, and not one of them look down on my BPS gear. We catch fish and have a great time doing it. Buy what you can afford; wear what you want; life is too short to worry about the little stuff...

My dad has Loomis hats, t-shirts, and all kinds of stickers he bought. Why? He thought the fish skeleton thing was really cool. He didn't know it was Loomis, atleast until I told him.

Im sure alot of other average anglers are the same way. Not everybody is fishing junky like us and knows every cool logo in the fishing industry, and knows about our posses.

The real question is what is more overpriced their shirts or their rods?

Why are you insinuating suicide ???

Look around... You're out in left field.

Maybe he should have said "curtains". Thread lock seems inevitable now.

Why? because I'm pointing something I see a lot of when I'm out fishing or doing something related.. it's an observation I'm sharing, there's no bashing hence I'm not alone out here, geez.

You ask why. Allow me to explain it to you in a respectful, polite way. Your "observations" seem particularly judgmental considering that you appear to know none of these guys you speak of. You are judging them by what they are wearing, and that it doesn't match what they a using. It seems very narrow-minded and projects a caustic attitude. You shouldn't be surprised by all the negative responses. Usually when a thread takes on an argumentative tone, it's "good night Irene".

Ok, time for my worthless two cent. I was at Gander Mtn the other day buying some soft plastics and started checking out the St. Croix, Abu and Quantum rods. I held a couple different models just to see how they felt, but guess what? I fish Loomis rods exclusively. I have one Loomis long sleeve t-shirt I wear in the winter (most comfortable t-shirt) and have a Loomis sticker on my boat. Just because I'm a Loomis fan doesn't mean I don't like checking out other brands.

Put it like this. Just because she wears a ring on her finger doesn't mean she's married. OR just because it's worn like a diamond doesn't mean it isn't a QZ.

Also, here is something I didn't know until yesterday. I'm not sure if it applies to all teams but did you know that when the NY Yankees play the Boston Red Sox in Boston, that the bat boy for the Yankees is NOT a Yankees fan. The bat boy is supplied to the Yankees from the Red Sox and has to wear the Yankees uniform. HMMMM, who woulda thought a why a guy wearing a Yankees uniform would be a Red Sox fan.

Be carefull stereotyping, it can make you narrow minded.

Why do people wear Nike shirts while wearing Adidas shoes? Maybe they just like the shirt.

Does that make them a poser, or somebody who just likes logos and what they represent?

Hmmmm....

I know them well enough to see them fish since I'm out on the water more than anyone else in this area. I see them, I know how they fish, what gear they wear, what style they fish, and where they fish. This is more than just bumping into one guy somewhere and making an assumption or judging after one occurrence. I see it a lot, like I mentioned. If they own a Loomis rod then they are just collecting them. I figured since this is big in my area I would think others would post something similar if it's everywhere else too, not to have you tear my post apart and think

I'm hating people. That's how threads close.

One of the biggest trends of last year was wearing Tap Out clothing, darn well 99% of the people wearing them don't dabble in the martial arts. Yeah I get it, It's cool looking, they like it. But I see fishing having more of a pride in what you do, how you act and perceive yourself out on the water, would think you supported what you used and one of those ways is advertizing. If you like an item you buy apparel to show you like it, most importantly to the manufacturer is they are getting free advertizing. When I see a logo anywhere I also see the 2nd message which is advertizing, we all know how it works, more ads = more customers, in another sense you don't see sponsors allowing the anglers wearing their competition since it wouldn't make sense.

So since my run ins with people wearing Loomis clothing, I should base my analysis that Loomis has cool clothes and not cool gear. Get it?

The real question is what is more overpriced their shirts or their rods?

It would make sense to mark them up if it's popular then  supply/demand heh

I would agree with what you say, but you own Loomis rods and use them exclusively, you didn't buy the other rods you were just checking them out, but really though you're not buying a shirt that says "Ugly Stik" on it.

Everything has a stereotype in this world, like it or not, agree to disagree they are out there  I'm a quarter Polish, so you know why I don't own a submarine :laugh5:

Why do people wear Nike shirts while wearing Adidas shoes? Maybe they just like the shirt.

Hmmmm....

Well if you own both you can't be a poseur, now if you knew someone who touted nike all day and you always say him wearing champion that'd be different.

To me, for example: I like rage tails, I would like them to be around so I keep buying their stuff, now would I buy their closest competitors shirt that I don't use and show everyone that? Doesn't make sense that I would then.

No but this topic can turn ugly real fast....

I really don't care who wears what.....I'm in agreement with just about everything Glenn said in here so far.

Maybe they needed a fishing hat to keep the sun out

Maybe they just like the hat

Maybe they found it on sale

Maybe they wanted to show they love fishing and Wearing Loomis is one good way to show it(even if they don't have any loomis)

Maybe somebody gave it to them as a gift

The list could be endless

I have a few reebox and Nike shirts.....I don't own a single pair of either of them. If that makes me a poser so be it.....really couldn't give a dang.People should worry more about themselves and less of everybody else.

My two cents...and the value is dropping fast....LOL

I got a free Loomis hat at the Classic Expo. I haven't worn it yet, but if it means I gotta buy one of those rods, then forget it. I got a free Yamaha t-shirt at the weigh-in, and I like to wear it fishing out of the kayak. That way, I really do have a Yamaha motor.

The hat I really want is one to match my Ted Williams baitcaster that I still fish with.
