cisc Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I have been trying to take my twin boys (13) fishing, we have had no luck thus far. overholser is basically in our backyard, but there are too many people to fish anywhere. we dont have a boat. we went to some "close to home" ponds yesterday with no luck at all. I grew up in southern oklahoma, and imo for bank fishing you cant beat a good farm pond.. anyone have access to any that can help me and my boys out? wanna get them a few fish before they grow tired of heading out with me with no results. thanks! Cattfish Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 If your not really worried about what type of fish you catch and just want them to catch something, I take my kids to Thunderbird enter off highway 9 at the hourse stable go down the hill you will pass the nature center on the left then on the left after the nature center but before you get to the boat ramps there is a turn in for a parking area with restrooms, as you are facing the restrooms, to the left is a trail that takes you down to a fishing dock, drop a line in the center of the dock with worm, minnow, seet corn ect.. and the kids will get something, I have used vaious lures outside of the dock and picked up bass (mostly a cheep plastic swim bait from wally world) I have seen a 3 lb bass pulled out iof there and have pulled a 2lb out myself along with catfish, bluegill, crappie just no luck with saugeye yet. Everytime we go we have pulled something out and usualy enough panfish for a good (family of 4) little fish fry. Quote
