I was at BPS the other day and noticed that all the GYCB were increased to $7.99. I checked online today and they were increased online also. I haven't seen a price increase on GYCB website yet. Last year they raised the price from $5.99 to $6.99. I guess it's the end of the year and the new catalogs are about to come out.

The BPS price for War Eagles went up too.

i noticed that too. the price didnt stop me but i did walk out with some Stacey King finesse jigs to try.

Yup, I saw that too. After picking my jaw up off the ground, I promptly left and went to Dicks and got them on clearance for 4.99. 8-)

I was over at dicks the other day and they had GYCB senkos and hula grubs.  They had some colors on clearance and when I asked what ones were on sale they told me all the GYCB.  I walked out of the store with 45 bags of senkos and hula grubs.  I couldn't pass it up for less then $3.00 a bag.

two words.

ALUURING BAITS.

I saw that when I went to BPS last week. My wife wanted to get a fly rod setup and all I wanted was some Swim Senkos.. I did not walk out with an $8 bag of plastic.

It's more likely a GYCB price increase not a BPS increase. I would guess they upped their retail price and the other retailers will follow eventually. Or so it seems to me.

Why shouldn't tackle go up, every thing else has, and if the price don't rise, then they'll package them different, different in that they will package less product to leave the price the same.

I noticed in the meat market, some of the package sausage we buy is now 14oz vice the 16oz but same price.    Anybody notice the Earl Campbell links are same price, but less weight, ie....smaller links.

I have notived big grab chips with bigger bags, just more air and the very little weight added in chips, but the bag is big.   LOL

No, that's not the case at all:

If you look closely, BPS is overcharging for many (most?)

merchandise. Online they rip your eyes out with shipping

charges. Locally, they are really the only game in town for

a lot of stuff.  So, I still shop there, but I'm a little more selective

than I used to be.

We have an Academy and Dicks here. My online purchases only are through TW, they match prices and do free shipping for $50+, you can't beat that.

I'm done with BPS. Everything that I might need in a hurry I can get at Academy. If i'm in no rush, then it's a no brainer---***.

War Earl Campbell hot links!

i went to bps three weeks ago to look for some boots and figured since I'm here why not pick up some old reliable senko worms since I'm here ,i had sticker shock for a few seconds when i saw the 7.99 i promptly put them back on the hooks  since I'm about thru with fishing for the year anyhow. i think i finally reached my limit on what i will pay . seems kind of arrogant on somebody's part to jack up the price at a time when so many people are hurting .

BPS is driving purchases toward their private label products, which have a greater margin.  We have a local grocery store chain here that does the same thing, until they eventually phase out the name brands.

GYCB are still $5.99 for most baits at Dick's Sporting Goods.

I don't think i've ever had a good buying experience at bps, so i don't buy there anymore. 8 dollars for a bag of plastics is insane imo.

I agree with a lot of you. $8 bucks for 10 worms? NO WAY. Considering that most of the fish you catch on them will be dinks, that's insane.

While I think $8 is too much for Senkos, I will still keep a few in my bag. I use BPS Stick-os most of the time but when fishing is really tough I will try Senkos-just in case they are impressed by a higher priced offering. Most of the time they are not, but once in a while I catch an uppity one or two that way. ::)

Most of the fish I catch on Senkos or Senko imatations are not dinks. My 2 biggest fish this year were caught on 6" wacky rigged Stick-os.

I still get sticker shock every time I pay $3 or more for a jig, or $8+ for a crankbait. My answer is to try to buy on sale when I can and cut costs on non essentials, e.g. I pack a cooler instead of buying food and drink along the way. Instead of buying overpriced junk food I buy overpriced tackle. ::)

I think Bass Pro does a pretty good job. My local one has always done the right thing in my dealings with them and that is worth a lot to me. No, I have not drank the BPS cool-aid :-? just my.02

And one more thing ::) I paid $2.79 for gas this afternoon >;) OK I feel better now :-[

I'm glad R-Dub posted that list. I didn't realize anyone sold stick baits in 5 packs??!?!?!

(you got me thinking............LOL) ;D

That is why you are a successful business man; attention to detail. 8-) I am going to buy some of your stuff if for no other reason, maybe I won't feel compelled to jump in on the BPS bashing threads. ;)

BPS is more expensive on everything, and I dislike it a lot.  However, BPS is the one place where I can go and find EVERYTHING that I need.  If i just need a few things then i stay far away from bass pro shops, but if I need a large assortment of specific items that can't be found many places, thats when I hit the BPS store.  Its a lot easier to pay the extra price tag of BPS when you are able to get everything you need at one place and not have to run all over town to 5 different stores looking for a specific item that isnt popular.

Still though, for a few bags of worms, or a couple lures, BPS wont be getting my business, just too much markup.

Academy has Senkos at 5.99 almost year round if I remember correctly  ;)
