Rangerphil Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I am trying to learn how to setup a mojo rig. I have read on here about it and it sounds like it may work for me. How do you fish it, what do you need for it and how do you tie it up? I was thinking of using baby rage craws on it would that work? Also do you want the bait to float a little or not? Does rage craws float? I guess I am looking for a lighter, stealthier option to Carolina rigging. Something I can drag around points and shorelines a little shallower for prespawn bass. Thanks for all the help. Phil G. Quote

matstone7 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 A "mojo" rig is the same as a "slip shot" rig and similar to just crimping a split shot up the line from your bait. Imagine the Carolina rig minus the clicker and in-line swivel. The other difference is your weight gets pegged into position 8-18" above the hook. It's an exceptional rig presenting your bait choice in a different way, very subtle. The baby craw works well on a slip shot rig as do worms and more specifically, the "Space Monkey" and the Eeliminator! This picture shows a Mojo or Slip Shot rig. This is what I use for my slip shot needs. http://store.mojolures.com/mojoluresslipshotkit.aspx Good luck with it, it works great! Quote
Rangerphil Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Thanks very much! I thought that was it but wasn't sure. Would it work with a fluke also? Do you just drag slowly? Thanks again Quote
matstone7 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 It will work with a fluke.. You can drag or swim, basically any retrieve. The slip shot is really more about the fall imo. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted March 29, 2012 Super User Posted March 29, 2012 I caught my PB on a Mojo Rig. It is dynamite in grass. Sometimes I just don't feel like spending all that time to rig it up so I found a fast way of accomplishing the same thing. I just tie the hook on the main line and then grab what is called a Water Gremlin Bullshot weight and pinch it on. Water Gremlin Bullshot sinkers are bullet weight splitshots that come through the grass a little better than the mojo weights you buy at the store. 1 Quote
