Are yum dingers any good compared to say a Yamamoto senko? I just picked some 5 inch black with blue flake dingers up recently. Just wanted to know if you guys prefered one over the other. Thanks.

Ive had alot of success with the yum dingers. The color that has worked best for me is the black with red flakes.

I prefer them over the senkos. I pick the yum dinger over pretty much everything.

The 4" are killer smallmouth baits.

Yep. They don't sink quite as fast and I think they last a little longer.

Alton Jones just won an elite tourney fishing the dinger recently

that means it should be good enough for you or me dude haha

I like the Yumdingers a lot. They are much cheaper than the Senkos and more durable. I also like the little slot for the hook so it is weedless. They don't sink quite as fast as the Senkos though. I tend to use the Senkos in slightly deeper water, but if I'm fishing in 6 feet deep and under it's the Yumdinger

Well, I'm going to say no, they're not as good as Yamamoto Senkos ... for me.

That said, I had a lot of success on the watermelon gold flake Yum dinger until it seemed to disappear from store shelves.

Senkos -- for me -- have out produced Dingers. That's just my experience. I'm all for saving a buck and try to do so all the time. I will buy up a few bags of BPS worms during the Spring Classic determined to make them work like Senkos. They will catch, but they don't act/fall like the real McCoy. They just don't. Doesn't mean they're bad, they're just a knock off.

Don't know what Gary Yamamoto did to make his products work so well, but he did something.

This is just my .02.

I prefer the real deal, Yamamoto senkos, but the price mounts up pretty quickly, even if using Mend-It.

If I am going to fish a knockoff, I prefer the Gander Mt brand of senko knockoffs better than Dingers, because they have less scent. I am still not sold on the efficacy of YUM. I have fished the Gander Brand alongside the YUM brand several times and the Gander wins each time. Other than scent, the two baits are identical... Other good knockoffs that I will fish before the Dingers are the Gambler ACE, the BPS version, or the SK Ocho.

Never tried a dinger. I prefer either the real deal or a strike king shim e stick.

I throw Yum Dingers, Wave Worms Tiki Stik, & Yamamoto Senko

Each is productive for different reasons, one is each has a different rates of fall. The Senko has more salt making it heavier & allowing it to cast farther which is a plus in wind.

Does one produce better?

One will this week but not next week!

Thats the best way to answer this age old and soon to be locked debate Catt! That said. I carry both in a limited few productive colors. Yes they are the same type of profile bait but each has its own attributes good and bad. Bottom line is the whichever way you rig it or use it the fish will tell you which they prefer on that given day. We all know that subtleties can make all the difference.

i have a whole box dedicated to them. i love em. i also use strike king shim e sticks. they both are cheaper and perform just as good and catch fish.

A Yum Dinger in 4" Pumpkin/Chartruese Tail was my best producer by far last Year for River Smallmouth.

I have also done well on the BPS brand. Would I have done better with a GY Senko? I don't know. I do have a hard time understanding why the GY's are so much more expensive than other Brands.

I like the Yum Dingers as well as the Senkos. If fish are spooky and just nipping I'll use the Senko, there is 2 reasons, the first is the Senko falls faster and that often gets more of a reaction strike. The second reason is the softness of the Senko will often make spooky fish hold the bait longer and even decide to eat it if they are just grabbing the tail, in fact I had fish do that in the fall when the water temp dropped a lot in one day, they hit the Dinger but just barely and then spit it out but they held onto the senko eventually they would take it far enough that I could set the hook. Dingers are great if fish won't hit a faster sinking bait, I often use both in the same day and it is why I use both, if they won't hit the Senko they will hit a Dinger, it is just that simple.

Im not going to knock Senko's at all because they are legendary. But I prefer the Bass Assassin Fat Job to the Yum Dinger. $4.69 for 12 baits and they are very soft and durable. They have great action fished as a stick bait and wacky style. Senko's are dominant, but I can't afford them, especially when a lot of times one fish will do them in. The Bass Assassin Fat Job has become my new favorite behind Senko's.
