miked62 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Hi, I'd like some information about a trap style bait I've used. I think it's a Cotton Cordell and it has a single clunk - clunk rattle. I've heard it called a "One Banger" or "One Knock Spot" but that could be wrong. Also I don't think it's in production any more. Are they hard to find? We've had some success with them on barramundi here in Australia but I can't find them for sale anywhere over here. A snap of it is posted below, it's the old one above the Rapala Xrap. Thanks Mike Quote
miked62 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 Here is another snap of the bait Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 11, 2009 Super User Posted October 11, 2009 They are still out there, Cordell Hotspots, what you posted looks to have been spray painted. I think they sound different than a Bill Lewis Ratltrap due to the size of bb's inside that make the noise. Hotspots seem to have fatter bb's. I think its good option to have different sounding lipless baits. Quote
Randall Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 The bait you posted is no longer made but the Xcaliber brand (also a Pradco brand) has made a one knock lipless bait for those who liked the one knock spot. Quote
Chaz Hickcox Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Also try the Rapala Clackin-Rap. It has one metal chamber with a single ball bearing. It makes a deep clacking noise vice the regular rattle of most rattle trap type baits. Lost mine today, but it brought in a decent 3 1/2 pounder before it was sacrificed to the fish god. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 11, 2009 Super User Posted October 11, 2009 The best One Knocker lipless bait you can buy these days is the Xcalibur One Knocker (XRK series). Those things are money. Quote
Raymond de Leur Jr. A.S. Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I have a good supply of Yo-Zuri Lipless, Rat-L-Traps, Xcalibers, and Game Vibes. Each have the pros and cons. On one of the lakes near me, the lipless baits are a sure fire way and getting some fish in mid winter. In terms of sound/loudness, I feel that the Yo-Zuri and Xcalibers are tied with Rat-L-Traps pretty close. Quote

Up until now all I have ever use have been Rapala lipless cranks. I just bought a couple xcalibers, but have yet to use them. So, yeah I like em, but I can't give you a good comparison. Quote
