I just finished speaking with an Indiana DNR guy that nets and records fish for population studies and he told me that there are smallmouth in my favorite lake that he measured at 26 inches long! He said they looked fat and healthy! That's REALLY close to the state record size!

That's exciting news for you. It's always nice when they'll share that info with you so you know what lakes actually have big fish in them.
