Ok, so I watched all the videos on the website, and they do make sence.  I also finally think I got the idea of this jog flippin thing.  My next question is, would it be worth it to me to shell out 20 bucks on a few of these jig heads with the skirt forward design, or should I just go with a flipping jig.  I can't use football heads too much because they get caught up the the grass too much and I lose interest too fast because of it.

Here's a picture of the Evolution Jig:

$20...What's the downside?

The 3/8 oz Evolution Jig with a number of trailers

is an exceptional bait/ lure. Try a Rage Tail Lobster

and see what you think., but be careful...You might

get your arm broken!

If these are the same jigs that came in the tackle bag at last years roadtrip I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend them.  At least not for flippin in heavy cover.  I used them that week and they failed miserably at pitchin or flipping into brush/wood cover.  They hung up way too easily.

x2, and the hooks are garbage and bend out. Bobby sent me some for free and I still have 3 of them bend out on fish, 14" fish at that. Ask bassnajr for comfirmation of it, he saw it.

HMMM . The hooks are Gammys. The only issue I have ever heard of these hooks opening up is when some guy screamed he lost a 7lbr- I asked him was he using braid. He said yes 50 or  60 lb PowerPro. Hmmm - Maybe they are a little shy for being whacked with 60lb braid. I pulled s stump up with 30 lb one time and landed it. I designed the new E2 for braided line . That has a real strong heavy gauge flippn hook on it. That might help. 2 in a pack for $7.95

I have not tried these flipping yet but one of the hottest setups on this very clear Wis. Lake I fish a few times a year is to use one of these jigs, skirt less with a YUM Gonzo Grub and slowly drag it along the bottom on or near break lines and or weed lines. I have caught many 5 to 6 pound Large Mouths and several nice 3 to 4lb Small Mouths with this setup and have never bent the hook. I however use Flouro on this lake, not braid, so I can't speak for that.

(Shush! Don't tell anyone but the real secret to this method is adding MegaStrike to the Gonzo Grub)

Ok, so if you read the first post in this string it was asking for recommendations on what would be a good alternative. This is much like Congress fighting with each other, neither side actually coming up with a viable alternative. Some say it's great, and honestly they are the manufacturers, of course they think it's great it's their product. So Tin man, what alternatives would you come up with? Or are you here just to complain?

On another string roadwarrior had mentioned that he likes the cavitron buzzbaits made by the same company.  I went to the website, looked at the buzzbaits, and they advertised them as the slowest and fastest planing buzzbaits around.  I ordered one, and to be honest my Strike King Tri-wing buzzbaits are slower and plane faster.  I'm not saying the company makes a bad product, but I know buzzbaits, and I have to say that I personally disagree with Roadwarrior's recommendations for the buzzbait.  What's different here is that I really don't know jigging at all.  So, where he has a point, I would like to see a more objective recommendation (I say objective because it is obvious that since Roadwarrior is an administrator, and Bobby is an advertisor, then there is a little bit of a conflict of motivations there.  All due respect to both Bobby and Roadwarrior I mean no disrespect whatsoever).

I've been extremely loyal to http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ by our one and only Gman. He's got pretty much everything i use and need as far as my jig craze goes. It's hard to beat his price and quality. He'll even custom color your jig to your specifications.I'd be hard pressed to find another jig maker like him.

You'll have to get used to that if you stay here... There are some awesome recommendations here and some really horrible ones IMO, but in the end you have to decide for yourself. I have yet to see a moderator give a negative response about a product that sponsors the forum.....

I use the Cavitron religiously. I haven't even tried any others, and I don't feel the need to since it works so well for me. I have tried the holy Yo-Zuri and I could have been better off fishing with a slinky. I have tried KVD Line and Lure and I would have been better off putting Elmer's glue on my line.

Don't think that a moderator would have any better advice than any other fisherman. They are just like you and I. Take it for what it's worth.

OK all things aside - I think I will try out Roadwarrior's advice and try a packet.  What's the worst that could happen?  I could ultimately have a few jigheads that sit in the tacklebox.  It's not like I don't have any lures like that anyways (And those are lures I know work).  Another tool in the box, per se.  Also I will be checking out the jigs grimlin recommended.  Again, the worst that could happen is that I end up with a lot of stuff that will be there for me to experiment with in different conditions.

Roadwarrior - I'm still a bit new and didn't get the memo about the Monitors' word bein gospel!   :):(

In all reality, at least Roadwarrior gives a viable recommendation and doesn't whine.  I've found fishing is more of what works for you to get on the fish.  Not what works for the guy in the back of the boat.  I can fish buzzbaits and swimbaits all day long, but the guy in the recliner by the outboard can't catch on a swimbait to save his life.  To each his own.  TIGHT LINES!

The curse of the Gamakatsu. When will it end? They used to be a quality hook back in the day. I'm suprised they bent instead of just breaking like the rest of their hooks.  :-?

Terminator Pro Top Secret Jig, you will never look back. Neither has anyone else who has given them a try. And truthfully, if you spend $30 on jigs and they were crap you would want to complain. I appluad Bobby for sending me replacments and assuring me they were different but the hooks were still awful. These things are supposed to be heavy cover jigs yet you can't use them with braid and catch big fish? Am I the only one that does not make sense to?

So would you trust them knowing that if you were to have a state record on you will probably loose it because of a garbage hook?

I do love them around light cover and docks with 12-15 pound flouro though.

OK, as for an alternative?

I've just gotten some new jigs that look really good made by legal limit lures.

http://mylegallimitlures.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

They're a football type, standup jig that really standup great. I have yet to actually use these so I can't recommend by usage. I've only got about one or 2 trips left this season but if they work out well I'll post my results.

BTW, my complaints with the Evolution jigs weren't with the hooks.  Only the fact that they didn't work through heavy cover very well.

Bobby is a great sponsor and has been very generous. I got a couple from him in the free tackly bag from the roadtrip and used them for a few trips. I got some good fish and even made a post on here about them. Well after a entire bass season of throwing jigs 80% of the time I have to say I just won't buy any of them for one reason. They hang up WAY TO EASY. I haven't tried out Gman jigs yet but right now the full skirted jig I mainly use is Revenge flipping jig. They are well made don't hange up very often and well I just plain like the features they offer. The price point for them is pretty fair not to high and not to low. Personally though I throw a short skirt finesse jig 80% of the time and my choice for that is the War Eagle Heavy Finesse jig. Pair it up with a rage craw or Flappin Hawg and you got a killer bait.

I did!  I've used the Terminator jigs, Evolution jigs and a few others.  Any new jigs I purchase now are gman's jigs.  Same quality as the Terminator for a lower price.  The Terminator's trailer keeper is nice, but not worth the $1.50 difference between them and gman's.

I always try to give options.  As stated in many of my posts -USE WHAT YOU HAVE CONFIDENCE IN. -that is the greatest lure of all. There are all kinds of lures that I use by different manufacturers- They all have their time and place. If you like them God bless you-we are all here for friendship and to promote fishing.

Just an fyi - the moderators are not here to promote sponsors, nor are they asked to promote sponsors.  They try out sponsor's products and form their own opinions about them, just as anyone else would.  Their comments about products are candid and unsolicited, just like everyone else here.  The mods are here to maintain order, and to promote discussions.

Yes, I have tried the Evolution jigs and like them alot.  I haven't had any hook issues, but then again, I don't fish with braid much.  I have had some issues with them getting hung up, but that's completely dependant on the type of bottom/cover you're fishing.  Some lakes are impossible to fish whereas others are no problem.  So I suggest trying them yourself and see if they fit your fishing style and lakes.

Thanks!

Right on, now we are getting solutions too!  Now, it would only make sense to me that I would have the same issues for the evolution that I do with the football head getting hung up in grass.  So, Between Terminator Pro and Legal Limit Lures, what colors are the best?

The waters I fish are full of different things, I have access to swamps, Sunken barges, Marsh Flats docks, and a few rockpiles.  The water is dingy and on good days I can see a foot deep.
