PBJ Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 What is the best color for when you are using a Zara Spook? Quote
jkarol24 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Depends on forage and light conditions. If its a shad/ shiner lake, i will go with something with glitter in silver. Early morning or dusk, a black works well. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Match the forage and if it is clear water try a clear spook. You'll want the bass to hone in on the action of the bait without getting a good look at the bait 1 Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 24, 2012 Super User Posted March 24, 2012 Bone or black. They're not sexy, but they work. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 24, 2012 Global Moderator Posted March 24, 2012 Silver and blue are killers for me. Mike Quote
Five-Alive Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 clear is my favorite but I haven't use a color that didn't work. They are supposed to be releasing a new spook this year too. Quote
PondHunter Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 My favorite is the green frog/yellow belly. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 All I throw are clear spooks and white belly spooks. Quote
NILBasser Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I have to second the Green Bullfrog/Yellow belly. We fish slightly stained water here a lot and that color flat out tears them up when the topwater bite is going. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted March 25, 2012 Super User Posted March 25, 2012 It don't matter. Bass can't see the top of the lure. The color is to attract the fisherman. The action attracts the fish. I use the bass pattern only because I think the pattern is cool. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted March 25, 2012 Super User Posted March 25, 2012 I can't say what color works best yet but every new color i try seems to still work. I picked up an off the wall brand spook for $2 In a flat orange color. I thru it one slow morning with some YUM shad scent and landed many bass off a rocky point. They loved the color. The bass also like all my crankbaits with orange bottoms too. The lower breast of the sunfish is orange too. I caught a place in FL. going out of business that had many off the wall spook colors for saltwater on clearance i purchased what i could. There also the right size for bass too. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Love black with the white herringbone down the middle, kicks but for me. Blue/chrome works very well too. Quote
angler3 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 My biggest smallmouth came on a laser clear ghost lucky craft sammy. It is a great color for clear water and sunny days. I like chrome color baits when its cloudy. Quote
