Teh Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 One of my sons friends just about bends over backwards when setting the hook. Every fish is 'about a fifty pounder!" You'd think the reel was going to catch on fire he starts reeling so fast. Haha, he's 7. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 3, 2012 Super User Posted April 3, 2012 You put in hours of travel, living in motels, eating fast food, putting up with bad weather conditions, having a wife and kids at home screaming for you to come home and have to prefish for three days prior to a tournament and pay for gas, housing, food, insurance, clothes, launry and entry fees, and you tell me you will not get excited about reaching your goal: catching five bass. It is not easy being a professional bass fisherman. It is work. It is hours of studying maps, looking at web sites and blogs, getting the boat and equipment ready, making sure the two vehicle is in good condition, living in motels, fishing in dirty clothes, all to catch 5 of the largest green fish you can land. As for me, I would celebrate all fish that I caught in a tournament if I was a pro. But I am not a pro although I have won money in bass tournaments. I am a wild and crazy guy that goes nuts when he catches a nice bass. And I am proud to go nuts and crazy when I catch a nice bass. I want the entire world to know. Showing emotion is not a bad thing to do especially when all you are looking for are five nice bites so you can finish in the money and live to fish again. May I suggest you "Go Ike" more often. It is a fun thing to do! Quote
Pondboy46 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 When im fishing for channel cats and one starts running, I will run over anything to get to the pole and set the hook. If I catch a big bass me and my friends look at it for a minute or two and I am really happy. I get and even bigger reaction when I catch a fish on baits and lures I make myself. Quote
Skeet22 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Nothing gets the heart pumping like having a good fish on during a tourney esp the 5th one. I try to stay calm during the battle just hoping it does not spit the hook. After it's in the boat I get jacked up! Last tourney I fished I lost 5 fish at the boat that would have went 17-19lbs. We were on some really big fish. Worse day on the water I have ever had as far as execution. I'm still baffled as to what went wrong and can only come up with terrible luck that day. Quote
BassAssassin726 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Im kind of like Ike. If its a keeper, its a pig.lol. I use lots of adjectives like, pig, hog, monster, bruiser. Theres nothing better than setting that hook and your heart starts racing. Love it! Quote
outdoorsman110 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I always say, " Here piggy piggy, squeal for me baby, squeal hoggy " and then i'll make squealing sounds similar to that in the movie Deliverance. yeah... I get weird looks. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted April 6, 2012 Super User Posted April 6, 2012 I use to jump up and say YEAH after every hog. Now I just do it when I catch a new pb. Quote
KansasBASS9948 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Well....normally I just say "There he is" of "Fish On," but when I caught the one that broke 9 pounds I distinctly remember letting out a good ol rebel yell! Quote
