I'll admit when I see someone get a strike and set that hook, I watch for the entertainment factor, not the what did he catch but the silly body movements people make trying to reel whatever is on their line. Many people go overboard swinging at the fences, jump on their tiptoes, or even wrenching in a 1lber. Shear enjoyment. But there's the negative like when watching pros get over excited and it looks like their are punching the fish or getting a ignorant attitude while holding it, Reese and Iaconelli come to mind.

My son can tell when I get a bite on a finesse bait. He says I get kind of a blank, stupid look on my face before I set the hook.

I don't know how stupid I look (probably always) but I do catch myself saying "There we go!" if I set the hook and there's weight on the end of my line.

I like to watch my buddies fishing "feel" baits because I can usually tell by their body language if they have a bite or not. A lot of time I can tell before they do that they have a bite by watching their line :)

I never get too excited myself, a big one usually gets a comment and a picture, the hook set and fight are the same (as it can be) if it's a 1lber or a 5lber) I usually go for the nest if it's a big one. I have fished with all kinds tho, some of the guys I fish with are all business, some are not LOL. One guy I fish with has to one up you no matter what, every fish he gets is giant, he goes IKE on rock bass , let alone decent LM, yet we very well together in TX's, so I accept it....keeps me entertained too.

My father screams "JUMBO" on every fish he reels in. Whether it's a 2" bluegill or a 20lb salmon

i notice a lot of people start laughing like hyenas when they hookup.

i know what my boat feels like when my boat mates set the hook so well i usually spin around to help land it before they have said anything.

I get psyched when I get a bite! Even more psyched when I take it off the hook! I know when my hubby gets a bite, can tell by the way he shuffles his feet and I spin right around and watch in awe... (He's a much better fisherman than I.)

i pound my chest like a caveman and stand over my catch with one foot on its chest when i catch a good one.

LOL!

I thought I was the only one to do this. Gotta give a big ol rebel yell too. Otherwise people might think you're off your rocker.

To me fishing is an introspective sport. It gives a chance to enjoy a quiet day with nature. I rarely say anything except, "There's one" I might go on and say good fish or dink. Not to long ago I saw Ike break a rod and throw rod, reel, line and all overboard. I think he should have been ticketed for litering. I also don't think he will achieve the wins he is capable of without getting his emotions under control.

f its a nice one, ill give a little woot. Nothing like ike, but just a little hell yeah or something like that. But for most its just a "fish on" and thats it.

I don't get overly excited, especially if it's a routine fish, seldom are the fished weighed or photographed, it's just another 5# bass or 20# snook, not saying it isn't fun. I get excited when I catch a fish out of the ordinary, like the 8oz peacock I caught. The most excited I get is when I'm spooled and never see the fish, that's awesome to see 200+ yds line peel off as quick as you can blink an eye and can't do a thing about it.

I can feel the boat lean to one side and my husband gets ready to set the hook. I describe it as a dog going on point. As he does that, if I am at the front with him, I start to squat down so I don't get a rod or fish slap to the head.

(If I am at the back, I still duck. Getting a one ounce weight upside the head will make your knees wobble.)

As for me, when I feel the tap or see the line move, I say "oh..oh..oh"!

i'm not too vocal. In tournaments I just ask for the net, or if it's a dink, I'll tell my partner not to bother with the net.

I do give a good Tiger Woods fist pump when I land a nice fish....and maybe a high five.

This is a great thread lol. I am sure I do something super amusing but at this point I think I might black out because I can't think if I do haha. I am bad about always wanting a pic...even if it's a dink... .

I don't know how I react when I land one, but I know what I do when I miss or lose one... I let out a deep eeehhhhh, followed by curse of the moment. Then I look around to see how many people watched me make an arse out of myself. Unfortunately, it happens quite often.

I watch bass tourneys on tv just to listen to the "grunts" they make

I'm always amused that it takes such a loud grunt to set the hook in a 2lb fish

i was catching tiny schoolie striper after striper one day, got annoyed at one point and soon as a got a little bite and i let the bail go soon after she started to run and i was like ah ha Im going to see if i can set the hook hard enofe to launch one of these out of the water. i slapped the bail closed and when i set that hook i don't even know what my face looked like but i wish i could have seen myself that day, it was 42".

I really don't get all flipped out, unless the fish is a huge one..... But even so, I always fight the urge to get all goofy over a catch > until it is actually caught, and in the boat ! Once it's in my livewell, and I can see how much space its taking up, then I might get giggly, and goofy, and maybe scream a little bit.... Whooo Hooo ! :)
