Now I have been a huge fan of Owner Stinger Black Chrome treble hooks for all my baits, but the other day I went to my local Dick's to pick some up and they only had them in smaller sizes. However, I noticed some VMC Barbarian treble hooks they had in the sizes I was looking for. What do you think between the two and has anyone tried these VMC Barbarian hooks??? I didn't buy the VMC's, but I'm wondering if I should even bother with them.

I have heard the VMC treble hooks are good, but after my experiences with their normal hooks I wont touch them.

My story is basically the same, and it's my opinion that Owner blows the doors off VMC.

I don't have an opinion comparing the two and I'm not sure

whether the VMC Barbarian Hook is the same treble hook,

but VMC is what comes standard on both Lucky Craft lures

and Rapala X-Raps. Those are sticky sharp and I have never

broken or even bent one.

The Lucky Craft trebles are made by VMC, but are then sharpened by Daiichi Japan. I'm not a big fan of the standard VMC trebles, I would take an Owner over them any day.

I've never used Owner hooks of any kind, so I can't make any comparisons. As roadwarrior said, VMC's come on Lucky Craft and X-Raps, and I've never had a problem with the hooks being sharp out of the package or, staying sharp after use. I have used the VMC EWG hooks, and I'm not a fan of them.

VMC hooks are to inconsistent in my opinion, I've never purchased them as an after market hook because whenever I've bought Rapala baits with VMC it's been about 50/50 if they are sharp and they still won't be as sharp as the premium hooks like Owner. If you can't find the owner in the size you need try Gamakatsu or Diachi. I have bought the Diachi sharpened Lucky Craft version through tackle warehouse and those are very good hooks, just don't care for the regular VMC hooks.

In my experience, VMC makes good hooks - Owner makes great ones.

And if you want the best - get some Gamakatsu EWG trebles.   :(

Owner all the way. With as many fish as you lose already you don't want to make it worse by having a treble bend or break. Stick with OWNER. lol ;D

Owner ST-36 Stinger are hard to beat. VMC are a fine hook, and the Daiichi sharpened ones from Lucky Craft (not the same as the VMC packaged hooks) are very good as well. But the Owners are tops.

Just put new VMC's on a crankbait and they are way too sharp.

They get stuck in my clothes and the SUV's compartment floor mat.

I have to use a pliers to remove the hooks.

I would think that either Owner or VMC would work fine and you will probably not see any difference.  :(

OWNER hooks are alot better than anyother hook out there , if you want OWNERS  best hook (treble hook) , get the ST-41's , they are the ones with the CUTTING POINT , the ST-36 's have the ''super needle point '' , both are fantastic but the ST-41's are the top of the line hook in trebles !!!! :(

I have used many different brands. Personally I like Mustad Triple Grips for my hardbaits or TX3's. Those TX3 are super sharp. Be careful around them because they will hook everything!!

I have only used the VMC Suresets, and although I like the concept of them, they are not sharp enough to use for me. But I do not know how the Suresets compare to the Barbarions.
