outdoorsman110 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I've become very fond of Kopper's products, they aren't just made; they are engineered. This is my review of their hollow-bodied frog. The Live Target frog comes in 3 sizes and 8 color variations, which you probably already know but for the people that don't, I'm just putting it out there. What I like about this frog is that it is very durable, I can throw it in a mess of brush or vegetation and it won't tear or puncture. I usually cast it into the lillies and just walk it, but sometimes I'll burn it fast depending on where i'm fishing. I reccomend high visibility braid for this frog, 30-50lb test is perfect. I have had some problems with hook setting every once and a while but that's my problem, ( patience ). If I'm not mistaken the frog features a Gamakatsu frog hook so you'll hook the bass for sure. Overall this frog is very well built and it's highly reccomended by me and many other people, however the only thing I do not care for is that the rubber skirting can get annoying at times because they stick together after a while and can melt if you expose it to too much heat. The frog can also become faded and moldy, the colors won't be as vibrant so I reccomend cleaning it every 6 or so times you fish with it, only because mold and rust can form inside the frog and damage it from the inside out, you can put all your frogs in a bowl of hot water mixed with dawn dish soap & let em' soak and then rinse them off. Great Frog. 1 Quote
RyneB Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Great review. I bought the smallest version this winter, once the vegetation grows back im gonna give the frog and mouse a workout. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 23, 2012 Super User Posted March 23, 2012 I find this frog harder to walk than other frogs. Quote
Floridalargemouth Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 It definately looks good topside, but the fish only see the bottom. I own a few, but at the price their going for, I think it catches more fisherman than fish compared to other designs. The fancy graphicwork is not seen by a bass, and that (along with it's mold) is what makes it so appealing, not it's remarkable abilities. Personally, I haven't caught any more or any less fish on it compared to other frogs, but I do like the soft plastic - makes for easier hooksets. Capt. Dalton Quote

Dalton Agreed, I own the Evolve Species frog and it is by far better than Kopper's. I just decided to do a review on this frog because it's popular. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted March 24, 2012 Super User Posted March 24, 2012 I gotta say. I am in love with the new tiny version! It flat out catches fish if you want some numbers. Walks very well. Quote
endless Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I haven't had any luck with the Kopper's yet but a few miss miss hits. Quote
scbassin Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I have been fishing the Koppers 1/4 oz. frog for over a month now. I have very good results so far, I have caught L/M bass up to 8lb. I was afraid I would catch mostly dinks on it but that has not been the case. Wednesday I caught 23 bass & 17 were over the 14" limit. A jackfish tore it up the other day So I went by Dicks to pick up a few more & ended up buying several of the 3/4 oz. also. I am going to try them in the morning. I like the way Koppers frogs sit in the water & they do catch fish. They are giving my favorite frog the Boze Sumo a run for the money. I do like that Koppers has 3 different sizes where Boze only has one. They have earned a place in my boat. Try the plop plop fizz fizz method. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 It definately looks good topside, but the fish only see the bottom. .... The fancy graphicwork is not seen by a bass..... The above is simply not true unless a bass is directly underneath the lure looking up. Depending on the fish's position in relation to the bait a bass can view the sides of the bait as well as the bottom. Further, with the way the kopper's sits in the water and bobs underwater on the retrieve, a portion of the backside is visible underwater as well and is fully visible to fish. So the detail is for more than just catching fishermen... Quote

Brand0n Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 i got the koppers 1/4oz version. ive got a few good bites on it but im sure they were dinks. great engineering and quality. im buying more soon! Quote
Floridalargemouth Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Unfortunately I can't disagree more. Particularly in low light conditions and around heavy cover, I know that how that frog's painted really does not have much of an effect on a bass. It could be painted to look any way you wanted - and still do just as well. It's just a shame that they're dang near 10 bucks a pop when most of that is going towards the graphics. Capt. Dalton Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 A bass can reportedly see about as well as a cat, so low light conditions to our eyes are not necessarily low light to a bass's. They can see quite well. Added detail cannot hurt. Quote
tmier Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Try the plop plop fizz fizz method. Wth is that? I've been learning to walk it but ne'er heard of it. Quote
