crankbait2009 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 My local Dicks carries Field & Stream fishing rods. Has anyone ever used them? How is the quality? Are they sensitive? decent rod for the money? Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I have a 7' MH/F Rig & Jig Tech Spec rod which is made by F&S for Dicks and the rod works great. I believe I paid $60 for the rod after a discount coupon and a in store rebate and it's a great rod even at full price. I use it for t-rigged soft plastics and mainly fish 7"-10" worms and fat ikas along with the damiki hydro. Right now the rod has 6" cajun red line mono and the rod sensitivity is great and I can feel the lightest of bites and last couple of days I have fished it with primarily a fat ika and it has produced eat day. Most fish were small but the rod has enough tip and backbone to handle any fish you may encounter. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I have a 6'6" MH (1/4-1 oz, 10-20lb) baitcaster I bought on sale three years ago and other than being a little heavy (5.4oz), I have used the daylights out of it and never had a problem with the rod. The cork handle even still looks great. I even fished jigs with it for a while. I am not a rod expert, but it appears to be really well built. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I have the 7'6" Tec Spec Flipping Rod. I think I paid around $40 after coupons and points. I like the rod and would compare it to a St. Croix Mojo Bass. It is a little on the heavy side but i'm not one to complain about a few ounces. Quote
tugsandpulls Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 i have the 6ft8in tec spec for my worm rod split handle foam grips i like it good deal Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 22, 2012 Super User Posted March 22, 2012 I was at Dick's last night and saw a new Field & Stream series called the Tec Spec Elite (I think). Nice looking blue color. I think the price was $20 more than the black Tec Spec rods. Anyone had a chance to try them yet? Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted March 22, 2012 Super User Posted March 22, 2012 i have an older tec spec spinnerbait bait cast rod i like it i broke the tip on it and epoxied a cheap on in its place befor and after the breakage it was a solid rod it was my first "high end" rod not that its high end but for me at the time it was. i wouldent hesatate to pick up another one or two i like em there good budget rods that offer some qualities of higher rods for a very affordable price. i havent had experiance with the new elite ones just seen em in a email from DSG. by the way the tip broke when i closed it in the garage door i wasnt to happy but it was just the guide the rod it self diddnt even break honestly Quote
