No I dont own a NEW boat, but my wife bought me my own bass boat for a wedding present. Its gonna need a little work, but the foundation is solid. Its. 16.5 foot older model, and its got some wood accents (which to me is cool). A horrible fiberglass patch job just under the front lip, like someone hit something. I will be using this thread now to help me along the way, and will be enjoying it every bit of the way. Its going to be like when I built my 88 5.0 Mustang in High School. I sure know how to pick'em!

It just takes time that's all, it's not the product you see now, it's the finished product you have when it is completed that you are going to be the most proud of.

Good luck and we look forward to your posts and DON'T FORGET THE PICS !!!

Some pics of the boat. Its a '76 Check Mate Bassmate. 85 Evenrude. Plans are to rip out all the carpeting and lay down some dark grey. Fill in the old holes for all the railings. Remove all the hatches and refiberglass all the holes to make my own and remount them. Paint the hatches red. Remount the seats. Paint the top portion of the boat a dark grey, and the bottom black, with a red pinstripe around the edge of the boat. There is a small area in the front of the boat under the lip that has been patched, and is going to get repatched the right way.
