Super User retiredbosn Posted March 24, 2012 Super User Posted March 24, 2012 A-Jay Great looking ride, still kicking myself for selling my suburban. Get some McGuires instant detailer and a couple of microfiber towels. It works wonders on my black Silverado. They make it just for black vehicles, creates a deep black and the shine is awesome. Use it once or twice a week doesn't take long, definitely pays for itself, I don't have to wash the vehicle often and it also reinforces the wax. 1 Quote

Thanks for the info Boats ~ I'm a freak when it come to vehicle maintenance / detailing. I do use that detailer alone and together with the "clay". My favorite basic painted surface deal is called Klasse All-In-One Paint Cleaner & Polish - Over the years I've tried several and this stuff is the real deal. I even use it on my baby (GTO) and then top coat it with a high quality carnuba - A-Jay Quote

That's a new one on me, the detailing stuff probably harkens back to our Coastie days, lol. Always had to shine even the black boats. I had a Senior Chief once who wanted us to lay down the mast on the 41 to shine the running light brass! When he was reassigned that got painted. Quote

In the North woods - everything is an on line purchase for me. http://www.superiorc...t/klal10oz.html But it's really worth it. Easy on, easy off, no residue and the product does everything it advertises. Look it up and read the reviews. It's good stuff. A-Jay Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 26, 2012 Super User Posted March 26, 2012 Klasse is the bomb. Nice ride! Nothing like a black vehicle. Quote

Super User tomustang Posted March 31, 2012 Super User Posted March 31, 2012 Just curious, what kind of mileage you getting with it? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 1, 2012 Author Super User Posted April 1, 2012 Just curious, what kind of mileage you getting with it? 14 / 18 mpg and it's the kind of milage where you ride in style. A-Jay Quote
scrutch Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Have you pulled a boat yet? I get around 12-13 mpg pulling a boat with mine. I average around 14 in the city too. It will be interesting to see what I get going to Guntersville in a couple weeks. It will be the first long distance trip with this new truck. 1 Quote

However, I don't think the 6.2L will hardly break a sweat pulling my rig - 16ft Old Town on an aluminum trailer - can you even call that towing ? I bet my dogs loaded in the back present more of a challenge than the rig does. A-Jay Quote

That 6.2 doesn't even snort. Gas mileage is a whole different story. Quote

Super User Sam Posted April 2, 2012 Super User Posted April 2, 2012 And it is safe! My wife rear ended one at a stoplight and totally destroyed her Volvo. No damage to the Yukon, By the way, lady driving Yukon started to move forward when the light turned green and then for some unknown reason she stopped. So my wife hit her. We now have a nice Jeep which I like better than the Volvo. Quote
