zildjian Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Hey guys, I want to buy a Duckett baitcasting Rod for an All Purpose Rod. 6'9" Medium Heavy or 6'6" Medium. Which one should I go with? I do mostly Jig and Worm Large Mouth Bass Fishing. My Current Setup Is a Powell Endurance 6'7" Medium Heavy with Shimano Curado G201 Baitcasting reel. I just want to try out these Ducketts I've been hearing so highly of. Thanks Guys! Quote
ynnhoj86 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I like my 7'6 mh. Its awesome for jigs and I like it for Carolina rig. Quote
zildjian Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 I've also been looking at carrot stix and g. loomis rods. Any pros and cons against these rods? Duckett vs Carrot Stix vs G.Loomis? Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 20, 2012 Super User Posted March 20, 2012 I've also been looking at carrot stix and g. loomis rods. Any pros and cons against these rods? Duckett vs Carrot Stix vs G.Loomis? G.Loomis is the way to go and the Ducket isn't even close to any of the Loomis rods except for the new GL2. Loomis made them look nice but they are way over priced, they are heavy and while the guides are more than adequate for bass, it still is considered cheap on a $200 dollar rod. I heard good and bad about Duckett and it is about 50/50, I know the first ones had breakage issues especially on hook sets and then they introduced the White ice rods and since the introduction nobody has even heard a peep as to why they aren't out yet. The carrot sticks have ended up with a bad reputation as the pros left in a mass exodus, even the guy who designed them is gone but most that have them really like them so that may be an option but do your research before buying. msolorio Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 check out dobyns rods. amazing rods and amazing customer service. imo, loomis comes in 2nd compared to these guys but to each his own, everybody has different opinions. Quote

Totally agree! I have a dobyns rod, and it is the best one I own. When it comes to an all purpose rod, I would go with a MH over a M. Quote
zildjian Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 awesome! Thanks guys for all your comments! Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Sounds like to me you need the 6'6" M rod if you already have a 6'7" MH and 7'6" MH. Ducketts are great rods, but IMO look at the Phenix Recons. They are in the same price range as the Ducketts, but outfish all the rods I have fished which include rods up to $250. Quote
jmed999 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I have 7 Ducket rods...I love them. They are the best rods in that price range IMO. I would go with the 6'-9" MH for an all purpose rod. Quote
longrange11b Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I recently purchased a Duckett 7' MH paired with a Chronarch 201E6 as an all purpose setup and I couldn't be more pleased with its performance. I caught several bass all the way up to an 8 pounder and have had no issues. I would highly recommend a Duckett. Quote
