Jake P Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 positives/ negatives to pegging your weight? I know it helps better navigate through cover if need be, but what are the cons? Also, what can i use to peg the weight? I have heard toothpick but also heard it will damage the line. I looked online and keep finding the same pegs but keep seeing reviews that say they are not made of rubber like advertised and do not work very well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance guys! Quote
JDF Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Dont know about the negatives but it definitely helps the rig from getting snagged with weeds. I use the bass pro bobber stoppers and they work well. Plus they are really cheap Quote
msolorio Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 honestly, i dont think there are any cons to pegging a sinker. any time im pitchin/flippin my sinker is pegged. i use eagle claw or danielson bobber stops. always worked just fine and dont damage the line one bit. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted March 20, 2012 Super User Posted March 20, 2012 I use these,(Eagle Claw bobber stop) just make sure to push the stop up the line far enough so you can cut off the part of the line that was doubled up when it went on. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 20, 2012 Super User Posted March 20, 2012 I also use the bobber stops. They work great. The main advantage to me for pegging is keeping the bait/sinker together in heavy cover. If you don't peg, the sinker might go through the cover but the bait will hang up some where in it. The dissadvantage? No major ones I can think of. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 20, 2012 Super User Posted March 20, 2012 Unless I'm punching matted Hydrilla I don't peg & have no problems working my lures through anything less than matted. Quote
