MaineBassMan Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 This is the earlies that I've ever been able to go fishing in Maine. There was still ice covering a quarter of the lake. Got to check out the new electronics side/down imaging, very cool. My father actually caught the first smallmouth of the year. I caught the first pickeral, lol. I have the biggest smallmouth so far this year at 3lbs 04oz, (won't Last very long). I lost another one that was around four pounds, barely had him hooked in the thin skin around the mouth. It was beautiful out there to say the least. If the temps stay up this weekend should be really good. It was a balmy 59 degrees today!! Only a few fish but boy it felt great, and I can't believe that my three pound smally actual jumped twice today even in this cold water. What this toothy thing? lol NOTICE THE SNOW AND ICE AROUND THE SHORE Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 19, 2012 Super User Posted March 19, 2012 Awesome! It is a very unusual year, weather wise, that's for sure. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 20, 2012 Super User Posted March 20, 2012 Nice first outing. I love those cold water smallies that are too fat to clear the water. They just waddle half way out. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Dwight, do you recognize that jerk bait? Quote

Big Al23 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Nice Smallies! I can't believe we're fishing here in Mass and the water temps are already in the upper 40's low 50's Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 That's a beautiful fish. It's going to snow here tonight and my mom has 7 inches since 0700 this morning. Our temps are 20 degrees below average. I'm about to be jealous. Good job. Quote
