It's a solid reel. If weight is concern, you can move on. If performance is more important, it should be a consideration.

I personally dont feel like its a $250 reel. Its heavier than any other $200 reel ive ever felt, not nearly as smooth as a Ci4 or a Patriarch, and makes noises that a $250 reel should not make.

Coming from a guy that is a big fan of Abu Garcia, I would pass on it. Get the Ci4 or take a look at a Pflueger Patriarch. Both are very nice reels.

The Daiwa Certate is heavier and more expensive than the Premier. I used the Certate before I used the Premier. I also use a Patriarch. The Premier and Patriarch are two totally different categories of spinning reels.

I've had a pflueger supreme xt for about a year now, and I love it! It's price tag is also a little cheaper at $150 :eyebrows:

I have 3 of them. Haven't had a chance to use them yet, but they seem very smooth - especially the drag. Yes, they do seem a little heavy, relative to today's extra-light reels, but they're lighter than the older Cardinal 600's I'm replacing them with, so it's a win.

I picked one up during an accidental online sale by Gander Mountain last year ($99)... definitely does not feel like what I imagine a $250 reel feeling like. It is awesome for what I paid for it and I really like it, but I would have to say that my Ci4 is a better overall reel for $50 less retail. If not heavily discounted I would go with the Ci4 without hesitation.

The old gold supreme XT is also a winner and can be found at a very good price!
