Great article! Spoons are definitely overlooked. Last season I started to use the Tony Accetta #5 with clacker. Similar to the way the In'Fisherman revealed in their mags and TV series. Very good results in the fall of 2011 with several 3 - 4 lb. smallies over deep structures. I fish them more like Iaconelli though; as the waters I fish host deep weed beds which do not allow for touching bottom, the way the In'Fisherman recommends. Here's what my rig looks like:

Not a giant spoon, the way a lot of some pros recommend, but this size has given me the confidence I need to keep them well stocked in my tackle box.
