I am researching a good senko rod. As noted in an earlier post I fish anywhere from Lake Fork (17+lb test) to Lake Norman (12lb or less). Looking more versital of the rods for tossing weightless plastics. Or do you recommend a different rod? Thank you for your help.

BCR893

X2. I had two 893 GLX Senko rods and they were the bomb. I highly recommend them.

I did not mean to refer to a spinning rod. Casting only.

I was flirting with the 893 but am converned that ti wont fit in my Plano travel tube, says its for 7 foot rods.

I guess the BCR893 is "the bomb" in educated hands. Not my hands though. I had one and I sold it and I used the money to put towards a BCR803. Why is the BCR893 considerd "the bomb"? I mean, what makes it such a great Senko rod?

IMO, no soft plastic rod should be less than 7'. The 893 GLX is very sensitive and lightweight, yet has enough backbone at 7'5 to haul fish away from structure. The recoil guides took a little while for me to get use to but they are very durable. You can bend them without breaking them. The 893 also doubles for lightweight jigs, 1/4 ounce, and can even be used for deep diving cranks (10'+) or large spinnerbaits in a bind. The rod will cast a 5" Senko a country mile with 10-12 pound mono.

Excluding the part about deep diving cranks and recoil guides, you could say the same thing about a MBR843 GLX. Maybe it was the 7'5" length that I didn't like. I don't know. I was using a Curado 50E on mine. I think that I had 15# P Line CX-Premium on it. All I know is that I read great things about it on this site and maybe I was expecting too much. I have also read great things on this site about the BCR803 GLX and that is why I bought it. My 803 is here to stay. If I were to buy a rod for Senko's, I would buy a MBR843 GLX.

To the original poster, you said your travel tube is for 7' rods. The two Loomis rods that you inquired about are over 7'. The MBR843 is a 7' rod.

From the Loomis website

10780-01 MBR843C (GLX) 7' 4 1

10-17 1/4-3/4 Fast Med-Heavy $375.00

An excellent all around jig and worm rod especially in deep-water applications. The extra length gives you much more casting range too. Anglers have discovered its versatility for pike, walleyes, snook, redfish and other light saltwater species. It’s powerful, with a light tip and still has enough power to move fish away from cover. Works extremely well for soft jerkbaits. A classic example of GLX technology at it's finest.

I'm not the hard core Senko fan as most on the forum. Regardless, after looking at your parameters, I would consider the DX704C, just because you plan to go up to #17 test. That will get you in the rod holder. I mainly pitch 6 inch Senkos on #15 in holes in vegatation and use a Dobyns Savvy 733 Micro. My Extremes are heavy action or light spinning.
