nightmid Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 i am going to go back to a spining rod and reel set up for flippin and pitchin what type of braid do u guys recommend i use and should i use a backer on it was looking at power pro but thought i should ask for some opinions on this before i make a final decision on this Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 16, 2012 Super User Posted March 16, 2012 4000 series reel, and 40-50# braid will be fine. I know quite a few people throwing frogs with this type of rig as well. Quote
craww Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Me and buddies used to use spinning reels for this type of work (some of them still do) on pflueger president 4000's. I'm sure everybody will advise against it, but we'd use 20lb and never had any issues. Catching alot of big fish in the slop and timber, including the occasional big Cat and ticked off snapping turtle. You also get some added casting distance with a smaller diameter. Brand isnt to big of a deal for me. Power pro, suffix, and spiderwire stealth all served me well. Quote

I like the Suffix 832 but nothing wrong with PP, I just like the 832. Quote
