The sun and what it can do to the body is a big concern to all of us. I have seen many of the pros and show hosts wearing head/neck wraps when they fish. Anybody else use one? What type? Brand? Anything special I should know before buying one?

I wear protective gear each time I'm fishing. Columbia shirts and shorts/pants, Buff neck/head wrap, as well as Buff gloves. It gets stupid hot down here with the UV index generally being somewhere equivalent to the surface of the sun. I like having my tan skin. I don't like getting burned. Plus wearing that gear actually keeps you cooler and more comfortable when you're out. I may look like a fool, but I know that I'm protected. I don't want to death with easily preventable health issues later on in life.

We all spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year on rods, reels, line, and lures. Might as well spend a few more bucks on clothing that's going to let you keep fishing harder and longer.

Before you go out and buy one, do some research. Buy from a reputable manufacturer. Spend some time trying on the clothing if at all possible. You want to make sure you get a good fit that won't restrict you while fishing.

The shirt/pants stuff... got that covered. Nothing but Columbia... except for the occasional 5.11 worn out job pants. Never fish without a hat or sunglasses. Mainly looking at the head-wrap. Thanks... Buff you say.... hmmmmmm... will look at them ASAP.

I wore Buffs head and glovewear last year. Liked 'em so well, that BassResource is coming out with a custom line of buffs that improves upon the original. They're a really cool design that addresses some of the shortfalls of what's currently available.

Look for the new design soon. :)

Now that's the Idea.....Buff has some very nice and wearable stuff....and if Columbia is too pricey, then BPS has some very useable alternatives. I'm into 90-100 SPF and every couple of hours, take a break and freshen it up. You'll need a drink anyway.Good conversation.

I'll take a case of the rags and gloves. Assuming you can get the gloves in a 2XL.

On a site note have you noticed any issues with the gloves? IE loss of sensitivity or durability? My pair split in half. Which could have something to do with me cramming my massive hand into a large as opposed to the correct size? Also will yall be getting some of the fighting gloves they offer?

No problem getting gloves for my big mitts...2XL..I've had one pair for 2 years, tried to rotate them out last year, but couldn't kill 'em....and the sensitivity seems to be just fine...haven't needed fighting gloves yet but I'm not catching much over 7lb except an occasional pike or carp.

Heck yeah. That makes me feel better about them. Thanks for the input on that.

I bring a bottle of sun block with me,I also apply it on me every single time before I go out. I've never really needed any special clothing to be honest.

I can't stand Sun block. However, I don't burn. I'll turn dang near the color of coal, but don't burn. So I feel I need to layer up incase; A something bad is happening without me getting burned. Or B I permanently stay that color, my primary fear. How odd would it look to be part tan and part charred?
