I'm in the market for a new baitcasting rod and came upon a Quantum Super lite on ebay for about $60.00. it's 6'10 (which I want) and also has the reel seat I'm looking for. I was just wondering if anybody has some experience with them, good or bad?

Thanks,

Jacob

There is a review on tackletour but the review is of the 7'11" Heavy model which I purchased off ebay as well for flipping and pinching. In the review they tried to use it as a swimbait rod which didn't work out as well but you can get a bite of a review on the construction and components of the rod. You can also do a search of the net for reviews which is what I did before purchasing the rod off ebay from simmons sports. Haven't had to chance to test the rod but it feels good with the quantum accurist mounted on it.

I'm looking to get my hands on the 7'2" model for froggin. I saw one on ebay as well but missed the boat on picking it up.

I had one of their spinning models (the 7'4" MH/XF IIRC) before I lost it overboard. I got it for $80 odd when Cabela's clearanced them off in 2010. The quantum was okay; reasonably sensitive, powerful, but sort of unbalanced. The Powell Max I bought to replace it blew it out of the water. JM $0.02.

I have 3 of them and a spinning rod also so you can asume that I like them. They are all 6'6" MH-F and I use them for different things but they ae a great all purpose rod not to mention they also have the lifetime warranty.

EDIT: of the 3 casting rods, 1 is a dedicated spinnerbait rod, I honestly think that is wht they invisioned the rod to be used for because it works perfectly with that type of bait. The 2nd one im my big spook rod, this is what I use for 3/4oz spooks, and the Storm swimbaits, again, it is a perfect MH, 1/4oz to 3/4oz rating and it works great for those baits. My 3rd is for jigs, actually I should say swim jigs but I do use it for football heads and casting jigs in shallow water. While I can use just one for all of those things it is better that I have them rigged instead of tying on a different bait and since those types of baits make up most of the lures I use during the summer it is only natural to have the multiple rods of the same kind so I can switch presentations without any trouble. I got these rods when they came out in '07 and after I got my first one I got the others as that rod was a perfect fit for me for the way I fish and the feel I like and when I found a rod that fit me really well I made sure to have more than one, the same feeling I now have with the Fenwick Smallmouth rods.

Simmons Sporting Goods just went back up on the price to $99.99 + $18.00 for shipping. I got my rod for $59.99 + $4.95 shipping which was possibly a mistake on the shipping since it did come in the hard pvc rod tube. I was eyeing the 6'10" model as well but pulled the trigger on the 7'11" model. I would wait for it to go on sale again and then grab you one before they are gone. As I originally wanted the 7'6" model and wanted too long and then they were gone.

I've purchased more tackle from here than I'd actually care to admit ~
