I have 2 Rapala Clackin Crank's in Parrot and Helsinki Shad but am not really digging the Sure set hooks on the back. I have caught fish on the Helsinki Shad and just picked up the Parrot so I know they work pretty good. I kind of want to change to different trebles for the back. Rapala says they have #8's which seem to be a little harder to find. Should I keep the factory hooks or switch them to something else? If I switch, should I stay with 8's or could I go to #6's and not hurt the action?

Thanks.

As long as the relative size is similar it won't make much difference, but bigger hooks might not allow the bait to run as true with the factory hooks on it.

I hate the "sure snags" too....I switch em out with whatever I have on hand. Rule of thumb for me is bigger is better as long as the hooks don't tangle you are fine.

On all the DT Fat 3's I bought with sure sets, I changed them out with a #2 Mustad KVD on the front, and a #4 on the back. They run just fine.

If you want a Rapala replacement hook, the VMC 9650 and 9651 is the hook to use. It matches all the other hooks from Rapala, and they're a fine hook.
