It's been a really long time since you've been able to see Bald Eagles in Northern Indiana. Just read in the paper today that a pair has just been seen in an abandoned osprey's nest at Potato Creek State Park. It is one of my favorite haunts to bass fish. I really hope I get to see them this summer flying over my boat!

That's awesome. They've been making quite a comeback in my state. I see them at just about every lake we fish.

This guy let us get real close. He then flew away about 20 mins later. This is at our home lake.

Good to hear it. We get to see nests down in my area every once in a while. Unfortunately the most recent few nests have been near very populated areas. Thankfully the FWC comes around and posts guards to keep people at a good distance from them. Close enough to get some pictures though, which is fine by me.

They are awesome to see... they've become a lot more visible at most of the lakes I fish the past 5-10 years.

They've made a big comeback in New York, too. I get to see them all the time on the river I fish. Really cool when you get to see them the first time, they're BIG.

They're very much on the rise here in So Illinois. The last couple of years a short drive along the Mississippi not far from my home will almost always allow you to see at least a few eagles during the winter months. It is becoming more common to see eagles while fishing at some of the local lakes as well. In some areas they have they have gotten so used to people you can get very close before they pay much attention. Last year, with all four of my grandkids, we walked right up to one roosting in a tree in the middle of a small river community (Grafton, IL).

They are making a healthy comeback in Jersey too. The Reservoir near my house has a pair with a pretty big area of water sectioned off for them to fish. Once I saw one dive down & catch a healthy sized pike. There are also Blue Herring, Redtail Hawks, Woodpeckers & a bunch of other birds on the rise in Jersey. Two years ago I was fishing off shore near a Redtails nest and it dropped a half eaten squirrel between where me & my girlfriend were standing! Safe to say we took off & fished somewhere else for the rest of the day.

We see them on Lake Talquin just outside of Tallahassee all the time. As a kid I never dreamed I would ever see one in the wild. We have come so far in my 61 years.

Scrutch,

They are majestic birds.

We see them all the time on the Virginia lakes and rivers and everytime they are a beautiful site to behold.

You can see their white heads and tails from a distance. The chicks are brown. All have a high pitched screech.

We saw a mother bald eagle teaching two chicks how to fly last year on the James River when a friend and I prefished for the BASS Northern Open. She was upset that we were in her creek and let us know.

The immature birds were having fun flying but needed some practice landing on the tree branches.

Bring a camera with a telescopic lens and take some pics to share with us.

We see right many down here. We duck hunted about a quarter mile down the swamp from a nest this year. We knew they were in the area, but the first morning they (a female and an adolesent) broke over the trees they were flying the same route as the ducks we were hunting. As soon as we saw what they were, the guns went in our laps, and we watched them (and the ducks we were hunting) fly around for about 5 minutes. No duck is worth messing up a chance to see a couple of eagles flying around.

I think the next time I get a chance, I'll load up the rugrats and go to Potato Creek for a little eagle watching hike. My kids would love that.

They're doing really good up here also. 20-30 years ago you would be lucky to see one now and then around here. Now there are several in the area.

I see them a few times a year when fishing and hunting iv actually called one in while coyote hunting he landed right above my speaker and decoy hung out for a while till he started to get harassed by crows.....so I shot a few of the crows they were in season and chased off my eagle. My wife has yet to see one in person iv even taken her to their nesting grounds on the reservation swamps and she still doesn't get a glimpse. They are some of the most beautiful creatures on this earth but I also have a thing for birds of prey bald eagles, falcons, hawks all get my heart racing to see especially to see them hunt but iv never seen a bald eagle take anything down there usually passing by or perched in a tree.

We see them just pretty routinely here in East Tennessee. At least once a week.

I live about 20 miles from Dollywood, which is a sanctuary for Bald Eagles. They heal injured eagles and release them back into the wild. The release area is in a cove about a 1/4 mile from my house. The cove has bouys marked " no boats allowed" to keep people from disturbing newly released birds and allow for a safe release. They all stay in this area for a little while and many have made it home.

Dollywood had two Bald Eagles escape from captivity last fall due to a tear in some netting. They were both raised in captivity so Dollywood wanted to recapture them because they would not survive in the wild. They caught both birds within a few weeks with the help of people in this area reporting their whereabouts. They think they survived by eating road kill or just got lucky finding food, lol.

I will never tire of watching them...................Al

I just saw one in the wild around here for the first time last Friday. I was working about 20 minutes from my house (NOT at Potato Creek) near the Bass lake area and a Bald Eagle flew right over our heads! I got a good look at it just soaring around for about 5 minutes before it disappeared behind some trees. This is a third bird in a different area! After the sighting I spoke to some locals nearby and they stated that there are three that are sighted in that area on a dialy basis. That takes the Bald Eagle total to FIVE!
