C~rig just catches fish. Shallow to super deep. And it tells you a lot about the bottom make up. 1/2oz less than 10ft. 3/4oz plus more than 10ft. 1 Quote

But I do fish it a lot in the spring on spawning flats. And I also fish it when I am scouting new water or hunting for fish. When I'm scouting, I put on a 1-1.5 ounce weight and slow reel it over the bottom always keeping my sinker in contact with bottom. It gives me a feel for the bottom composition as well as telling me what size the aggressive fish may be in that area. Quote

Yep, This post was spot-on. A great rig to throw,and it is a big fish rig in the summer on deep weed lines.And you can fish ANYTHING on them. I know guys that fish crankbaits on them. Quote

We've just had water temps rise above freezing here and no ice is remaining on the ponds. In this situation I use a 1/8 oz. bullet sinker on a 6# test Fireline mainline. Then I tie a 12" section of 8# test fluoro leader, to which is tied a size #1 EWG worm hook. On the hook I rig a standard 3 1/2" watermelon tube. I cast out and S-L-O-W reel it back, with frequent pauses. 9 largemouth have succumbed to this finesse presentation so far this season. A bit tedious to fish, but extremely effective on lethargic, cold water bass, with very small strike zones. Quote
NCbassmaster4Life Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 For me Carolina rigging for bass is one of my specialties, with that said I usually start post-spawn when bass move to secondary points and the main points. Roadbeds and ditches are some of my go-to spots....usually a 3-4ft leader with a centipede worm or creature bait....just depends on the bite sometimes I even use a grub. I have had great success with this rig and firmly believe in this rig on pre summer into summer months. The rig is used to put the bait in or around bass and there habbitat, and it can give a bass a great oppertunity to ambush the bait. The rig cover a lot of ground and can be fished slow and or fast, preferably slow. Quote
