Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted March 11, 2012 Super User Posted March 11, 2012 I am finally getting a boat. A guy from work told me a few months ago he has a boat he wants to get rid of. After much conversation on it he said he has no use for it, and would just as soon give it to me. I have yet to see it and am hoping for the best. It used to be his dads fishing boat and has sat out of water since his dad died ten years ago. I have no clue who makes it or what year it is. All I know about it is that its a fiberglass center console. Has a 40hp mercury outboard on it. Comes with a depth finder and trolling motor. I hope this thing floats and isn't junk. But hey a free boats a free boat. My buddy and I go pick it up in a couple hours. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 11, 2012 Super User Posted March 11, 2012 Since your getting it for free, spending some...SOME.....money on it to get it going if need be is no big deal. Before you tow it home check the tires, make sure they are fully inflated, and there are no horribly dry rotted spots that will blow out on you on the way home. If there are, your better off making a return trip later with a jack and better tire (s)and putting them on before you even move it, then having a blow out on the road. It also wouldn't hurt to take some grease with you for the wheel bearings. 2 Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted March 11, 2012 Super User Posted March 11, 2012 Don't ask me how many time over the years I have not followed my own advice on the tires LOL. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 11, 2012 Super User Posted March 11, 2012 Congrats and good luck. You never know - it might be a bit of a fixer-upper or it could just be a jewel that needs a little TLC. Let us know A-Jay Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted March 12, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 12, 2012 So, its an 88 Ski-Craft. Least I believe that's what was on it. Trolling motor looks to be in ok condition. The Engine is a 88 Johnson Tracker. Fiberglass is in pretty good shape. Motor looks brand new on the inside, haven't gotten to test it out yet. Interior needs new carpeting and some new paint. I'm excited as all get out about this. Shes rough around the edges much like me, and I'm excited about getting to work on it. I cant wait to get started on it. Here's what she looks like. Quote

royal0014 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Since 'ya like talk forums, head on over to iboats.com. They have an outstanding forum for all things boat, including make and engine specific areas. It'll be well worth your time, and it's free. You just might run across my flag flyin' there, too. Quote
