krisjack69 Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I just bought two micro rods the other day one a 7ft MH spinning rod and on a Veritas 6'9 mh baitcaster and got some suffix braid and want to tip it off with fluorocarbon since the ponds I fish are clear since we are in a drought.Any help would be great.Would a albright knot be good.I just need to know how to tie it.The only knot I currently know how to tie is a clinch knot I believe and a Palomar knot.the suffix performance braid is 20#, 6 # diameter and I want to use the seaguar 8# line as a leader. elkriverangler Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 If you go to animatedknots.com there is a a good pictorial on tying the Albright Knot. You might also Google Alberto Knot which is a modified Albright that I find easier to tie than the Alberto. I use it for Braid to Mono but It should also work for Floro. Quote
plumworm Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Also google the " uni knot " It's all I use and easy to tie. Never had a problem with it. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 10, 2012 Super User Posted March 10, 2012 NONE!!!!!!!! If you want to use Fluro use Fluro! Yesterday I tied on a BRAND NEW Hud 6'' swimbait to 50# 832 and got hung on a submerged tree wile bank fishing. I walked to the other pier to try to unsnag myself. I had to totally unspool the reel to reach the other Pier. I had 30# big game under the braid tied with an Alberto. A big pull and the not came apart! From now on Braid ties to the spool holes and I will never trust that knot again! Btw It did not go through the micros good at all! Quote
krisjack69 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Well I want to use braid on my spinning reel so I can see it better and use floro as a leader around 10 to 12 inches.I got the suffix proformance braid and going to use the seaguar invix floro for the leader that is already on my reel. zip pow Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I use the improved uni never had a failure and it goes threw the guides easy Quote
krisjack69 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Maybe I can just put my free stren on my sedona 2500 reel and braid on my stradic FI 3000 reel and just use braid in stained to murky water and use floro in clear water.I just got to get that trans optic line from Berkley off of my sedona.I hated that line. Super User Wayne P. Posted March 10, 2012 Super User Posted March 10, 2012 I use Daiwa Samurai 40# with about 4' of 20# flurocarbon leader for finesse presentations. I use the fluorocarbon line to make the braid sink as part of the presentation. I use the uni-uni knot for the connecton with 6 turns on both lines, It goes through the micro-guides of my Ducket spinning rod with no issues. I use the braid to avoid the monofilament line issues with spinning gear. When I go fishing I want to fight the fish, not my tackle. Quote
krisjack69 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Thanks for the help guys.I just need to practice the knot.I never use a leader before in fear of breaking off.The more I do it hopefully I will get better at it.Forgot to say this the suffix performance braid is 20# 6 # diameter and I want to use the seaguar 8# line as a leader.Sorry about that. james 14 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I've tested a few knots and the surgeon's knot would never break for me. The palomar knot on the hook would always break first. A uni knot is probably the smallest knot and it's very popular so it can't be too bad. It would break below the line rating for me in my tests but that's probably to be expected with most line-line knots. Quote
