So how many soccer fans we got here? I can't get enough of it. The matches are fun as hell to go to. If your watching it on tv there are NO commercials. And you don't have garbage penalty flags thrown every five seconds. Another plus especially if you hop across the pond. Are the chants the fans sing. It's completely awesome.

Oh and for you non Chelsea fans... Go **** off! True Blue homie! ManU sucks!

Chelsea till I Die!

The fan base is amazing. Im tellin ya. Go to the pub before the match, scream out, "Go (insert team here)" once the figure out your a foreigner and your a fan of their team. You can do no evil. They'll show you the greatest time ever. It will totally change your outlook on the game.

I bet, but I don't live near anyone that likes soccer.

I guess I'll stick to football.

Soccer and hockey are very similar. Our high school was small and did not have a football team. We did have a very good soccer team, and once you got to understand the game it was exciting to watch. You can't play hockey unless you're in great shape.

I'm not sure about going to the top tier games, particularly overseas. They definitely have the most rowdy, violent fans of any sport in the world. It's the only sport in the world where the number of injured, maimed and killed fans exceeds the harm that befalls the participants.

Been over seas to play and watch! Fun to actually be at a match. Raider, I'm a City fan!!

I play semi-professional in Orlando, but I guess my club is the whatever team has Americans on it. When it comes to Europe I'm a huge Bayern fan, but my favorite player outside of Donovan and Dempsey is Lukas Podolski who just signed with Arsenal. So I guess I'm a gooner now.

Rhino, not sure how far the comparison between hockey and soccer goes. Hockey is a faster, more physical game with way more action.

We don't have football at my school, but we got a pretty decent soccer team and the atmosphere is awesome! I don't watch professional soccer on TV or anything. I look forward to the world cup, although. Both men and women, it can get intense in the last few minutes when there a potential game tying or winning shot.

Hockey is faster. It's also on a smaller arena. Hockey players use sticks, soccer players use their feet. In both you have defensive and offensive lines. In both you have goalies. Both games are a combination of skill and strategy to move the puck/ball into scoring position.

One big difference, hockey players don't deliberately "head" the puck.

Same boat here gremlin, played competitive for a major part of my life in the DC metro area, all-met my sr. year in HS, won a national championship for U19 at club level. 3 ACL reconstructions later and I would much rather be able to walk!!

Love it. Love watching the EPL and La Liga. I still watch a little Serie A from time to time, though the lineup for AC Milan has changed so much I've lost a little interest in them.

Never been a big soccer fan but watched an Arsenal vs Manchester United game on tv and loved it! I had a lot of friends that played and always watched games, played the fifa games a lot, and talked about the teams. My buddy wore a Tottenham Hotspurs necklace so I always said that was my favorite team haha.

I would rather stare at a wall then watch a soccer match. For an equal amount of time. No, i would rather watch the wall for a week instead of 1/2 of a soccer game. Soccer is for K thru 6th grade. Then shut it down, man....

Beats the Heck out of watching baseball.

Like SoFla said above, this is a world wide sport. Eventually its gonna catch on here. It's already starting too. With the way the NFL keeps doing things now, it may someday manage to pass it.

I don't know about it catching on here. I've been hearing that since my high school days and I graduated in '59. There was a flurry of interest when Pele came to the states. There was another flurry when the women's soccer team won the Olympic gold. The latest surge in pulicity was when Beckham, (or is it Beckman? shows how much I know) and his wife came here from England, I think.

As a nation, we grew up on baseball (the national pasttime), football and basketball. Who knows,? Maybe lacrosse and rugby will catch on over here too.

I HOPE rugby catches on. That's one of the greatest games ever. Football was fun, but rugby was a hundred times more fun to play. As for lacrosse, I don't have the temper for it. If someone smacks me with a stick I'm probably gonna wrap mine around their neck.

I have one request. It pertains to the Road Trip. Please, please, please, if you lose a nice fish, don't wrap your fishing rod around my neck.
