Super User MCS Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 I dunno, at least you know he can play well in the post season, and looking at his stats it isn't bad. I just think a platoon is not so ideal though it can work if you have two partime players but I was hoping brown would live up to some of the hype and have a good year
Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 The one nice piece is he is a righty and brown is a lefty so a platoon is not out of the question. To me though this is brown's year to show up or move on. He has always been rated as a top prospect, 5 tool player etc...so he needs to just play. I am looking forward to the season for sure and may even head down to FL for spring training this year. 1

The size, speed and tools he has is no reason he cannot be a adam jones of the phillies. The first two years of their looks similar(thing that jumped was brown had about as many walks and SOs and jones was 1bb:5K), it was Jone's thrid year that he took off. well last year Brown was hurt. This is his year.  I used to lived in NW st pete, about 15 minutes from the Phillies facility in clearwater. You been before?
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 24, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 24, 2013 I guess Young has a weight clause in his contract. He will get something like $100G every time he makes weight.
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 24, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 24, 2013 The Braves are close to a deal with the D-Backs for J Upton: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/01/braves-nearing-deal-for-justin-upton.html 1

I wonder if Medlin will be as lights out as last year? I got him low lol probably not gonna happen again. 1
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 24, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 24, 2013 Looks like it's final. Prado is going to Ari, and Teheran is not part of the deal.   http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/01/braves-to-acquire-justin-upton.html   No doubt on Medlin...he's definitely on my list. I'm hoping he will slip through the cracks. 1

I haven't been to spring training yet but i ahve always heard it's a lot of fun. I may surprise my fiancee with some tickets and head down there for a long weekend. It is amazingly cheap to fly to florida from Richmond.

PM me if you want any suggestions.

So who is the CF? Bourn is a FA? Guess Simmons is the SS is he the leadoff man too?

Super User flyfisher Posted January 25, 2013 Super User Posted January 25, 2013 Atlanta has a pretty good outfield now as long as Heyward gets a little better defensively. NL east is going to be pretty solid with the exception of the marlins.
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 25, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 25, 2013 Forgot BJ signed with them duuuuh! Yeah u don't want him leading off that is the puzzle to me. Â Perhaps something like this: Â Simmons Heyward J Up Freeman
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 29, 2013 Has anyone seen any mock fantasy drafts for '13?
Super User MCS Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 Has anyone seen any mock fantasy drafts for '13?  Not yet. I been only reading playerline and yahoo though. Yahoo is doing their team by team "questions" review. I tend to take yahoos ranking and then rearrange them with my gut for the first couple rounds after that is best player by either gut feeling they will have a good year or if I like them or their team. Worked for me last year. LOL

Super User flyfisher Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 I have seen Trout go as high as number one overall. I don't think there is anyway not to pick him first overall. He is a special player that you don't see very often.
Super User MCS Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 I would be happy if I got Braun again in the first round. Â Number one pick is hard, I like 3-5. Â I don't know if I would go with Trout if I had 1, supersticious of the softmore slump a little.

He is a special player that you don't see very often.  Agreed, but I couldn't commit that high of a pick to a second year player. I am going Braun or Miggy there.  I'm in the same boat as MCS, plus Trout's numbers really tailed off at the end of the season.
Super User MCS Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 Braun PEDs or not is consistent as they come. He is number 1 on my board though I doubt I got that pick, I hope most people buy into trout hype and leave the Hebrew hammer for me! Other than that I couldn't tell u, miggy, maybe pick Henley with a rebound yr.
Super User MCS Posted January 31, 2013 Super User Posted January 31, 2013 Anybody else glad to hear the A-Rod circus is about to be over. He will now join Manny in exile lol. At least that is what the Yankees are leaking.

At least that is what the Yankees are leaking. I think the circus is just beginning.....When it will get good is if the yankees decide they want to try and void his contract which i think has about 5 years and over 100M left on it.....Could be a great out of the contract reason for them. Of course being a phillies fan i hope they pay him till he is old and gray and even less of an impact player than he already is.

So the Yanks are trying to get him to "retire" LOL but I am sure they will void the contract if he is found of wrong doing with this Miami clinic. I can't see them paying him to sit on the bench, this new regime is all about getting under the salary cap and lux tax while trying to be younger and decent. Then the story was saying there are a bunch of performance and milestone bonuses set for him. The contract was 114 million left, and I am not sure if that is the gaurenteed part or including some of thoses milestones etc.
