Superhuman, really? He had some stitches come out on his foot big deal. I had stitches on my ankle, 13 external and 5 internal and I put a roof on my house :)

I am glad the roid heads are not getting in, yet. I don't think they ever should myself.

Schilling is not legendary in my opinion. He didn't perform spectacularly in the regular season but he was a stud in the playoffs. I also don't think biggio is a HOF caliber player. He is a compiler and not worthy of the hall. I mean if he gets in then so should Jamie Moyer....

Yeah shcilling only has something like 2 or 3, 20 win seasons. I mainly like him because I remeber him from the O's....Glen Davis pleeease.....and the 1994 phillies. Kruk, Hollins, Dalton, Schilling, and the Wildthing....cast of characters right there. d**n you Joe Carter you riuned it!

I was being scarcastic. LOL hardly. My 2 yr old had 8 stiches on his chin and he was playing 1 hour later, Curt wasn't nothing special except for wicked movement on a 98 mph heater. But he struck a lot of people out, was a character and fun to watch pitch.

I grew up an O's fan but 1994 made me a Phillies fan(shhh don't tell Nitro nats came along too late but I root for them too). Sure wish the Phils would beat the Yanks in that series too. Love that they have Halladay and Hamels, Lee. Howard should be back 100%, they will be in the mix for sure with the Braves and Nats.

I can't believe Morris is not in, by far the best big game pitcher of his era. I read somewhere that no pitcher from the A.L., since the advent of the DH, has made the hall. I also read an interview with Morris where he says he pitched to the game situation, up by 8 runs, let them hit it, the right thing to do, but not good for stats.

Morris made his first allstar team the year I was born. What I recall was the end of his career.

But his numbers clearly are not dominante. 1,000 less Ks (3800/2400) than IP, 1.30 career whip, 3.90 era 254 wins 186 loss......it isn't impressive. For that matter Shcilling Ks to innings pitched both about 3,200. 1.14 whip, 3.46 era and 216 wins to 146 loss his problem was he couldn't stay healthy or he might have been legendary. In this day and age anything under 1.20 for a whip in a season in good.

Now maddux on the other hand. 5000 innings pitched. 1.14 whip, 3.14 era 355 wins

longevity and caliber of teams has to play into it too

Tough call for all of them, glad I don't vote.

Phillies will win the east pretty easily if they stay healthy. They were about 15 games under .500 in late July and managed to get back into the WC hunt and to .500.

They still need an outfield bat. Imalsomhear all the hype about the nats and strasburg and Harper and I just don't see it. Harper had a good season but was not an all-star by any means. He makes very very dumb mistakes on the base paths and is a pretty bad fielder. I know he is still learning the outfield but he blows basic plays pretty regularly. Strasburg wasn't even the best pitcher on his team last year.

Braves will be solid again next year too with their strong bullpen.

It's gonna be a good season for sure and I just might have to make a trip down to spring training this year :)

Revere in the NL is going to be interesting. Mayberry looked like a solid 6 or 7 hitter as well as Nix. Young frees up Rollins and makes for a great situational hitter at 3 or 5. They need Brown to realize his potential but it is hard where do u put him in the order? I think Rollins is a fine 2 and while I prefer young 3 I feel put him 5 and let brown hit 3 but the kid can't put too much pressure on himself to produce. I see his potential as an Adam Jones. The real ? is utley.

Harper is raw, IMHO he shoulda played the whole season in the minors he is 19 for crying out loud. He will be 1 or 2 more seasons from reaching full potential.

I agree that utley will probably be the key along with Halliday. I mean was last year just a bad season or the beginning of his decline. Only time will tell.

I bet Manuel keeps Rollins in the lead off spot. He is loyal to a fault and when Rollins plays well so do the phillies. I also wonder if they have any thoughts of galvis playing short and moving jimmy to the OF. he has the speed and arm to be a good left fielder and galvis is probably the best defender on the team except Ruiz.

Harper is young and I just can't get past his attitude. Yeah I know he has been told he is the best since he was 13 but he definitely needs to mature. Now mike trout, that guy is incredible...

Trout is and Anaheim stole him in the draft lotta teams passed on him.

I feel Rollins is better as a free swinger, maybe that is number 1 or 2 but thought when he hits 3 he put too much pressure. True Rollins and outfield make sense.

Ruiz how bout the year he had, I always liked him.

Ruiz was my second favorite current phillies player till he got busted for PED's. I am still a Howard fan. Yeah he strikes out a lot but nobody has hit with the power he does in the history of the game. Once he is fully recovered from his Achilles this season I predict his normal season of 40+hr and 125+ RBI.

I actually like jimmy in the 5 or 6 spot but not sure where everyone else fits in.....maybe revere, young, utley, Howard, Rollins, brown, Ruiz? I like the switch hitter after Howard and jimmy has some pop in his bat still.

Yeah if utley is healthy i would deffinately bat revere 1, utley 2, young 3 and rollins 5 or 6.

Howard is an old school first baseman, like boog, moose, or killabrew. Who care if he zhits over 250 when you have 40 hrs and 140 RBI I will take it, it is when they are slumming it at .200 like Pena and Reynolds that those all or nothing types need to move on.

The crazy thing about Howard too is he can get hot in one at bat.  I was watching my old 2008 world series tapes and he was having a rough post season for the most part.  Then all of the sudden bam, he carries the team and starts crushing the ball.

It also doesn't hurt that after i took my fiancee on her first Philly trip and game and we were staying downtown we were walking back to our hotel around 2am after getting a cheesesteak and we saw an aston martin outside of the hotel bar.

The valet saw us and said oh you guys are phillies fans (cause we had our gear on still) because Howard is inside.  WE obviously said really?  he said yeah let me see if i can get him out here to say hi.

One of his buddies came out first so we chatted for a few minutes and he sent him a text.to Ryan asking him to come out.

He comes out and looks at us and says hey, that's my girl from the game.  At the game, which was on her birthday, we were about 2 rows back from the dugout and she made a sign that said all i want for my birthday is a phillies win and a hug from Ryan Howard.  He then came out, gave her a hug, i snapped a picture and chatted with him for a minute.  He then asked if we wanted to go to the diner with him but since our flight was leaving early the next morning we declined.

He was a classy guy and did not have to talk to us or even acknowledge that he remembered us so to me that was cool and made me a Howard fan even more than i already was.

Regarding the HOF balloting, the way I look at it (not counting anything with 'roids), if you have to think about it, they don't belong.  If you have to discuss whether Biggio or some other guy should be in, they don't belong.  I have a hard time putting those marginal guys in the Hall with Mantle, Williams, Ruth, etc.  There are the no-brainers (Maddux and those kind of guys) who were absolutely dominant and those are the only guys that really belong.

I was just thinking who was a completely dominant pitcher, at least in my mind, recently and Randy Johnson came to mind.  I don't know what his numbers were, but a guy like that belongs.

I took a quick break to check the numbers, Randy Johnson retired in 2009 with 303 wins and had 5 Cy Youngs, so he'll be a first-ballot guy.

Big and ugly lol, but yeah he was clean.  As far as anyone can tell anyway.  Him facing John Kruk in that AllStar game was a riot; if you saw it you'd remember it.

How can you forget that and him hitting that bird in mid flight.......that is the reason why you watch baseball. With so many games and so many teams there is always something crazy happening every night

I forgot about the bird.  Now that I'm remembering it, I think all the animal rights groups were complaining about it - like he did it on purpose or something.
