Agree, Gaints played like a TEAM, hats off to Tim Lincecum for doing what was best for the team. And the rest of the guys too. You don't see that much in pro sports anymore

can't wait to talk it up will y'all next season, we have what 3 almost 4 months til pitchers and catchers report!

Couldn't agree more, especially with Lincecum. If you had told me he would be pitching long relief in the WS, and Zito would be an ace, I would have said you were smoking PCP. :laugh5:

Lol that is for sure in told the cards fan when they faced him congrats lol boy was I wrong!

So what is the deal with Tim is he back in the rotation next yr? Is this a buy low sleeper deal? I am sure 75% of folks are going to draft a more "sure" starting pitcher before him. Would u gamble?

So what's ur thoughts on the Nats free agency situation? I personally like Edwin Jackson, u think they should shell out some $$ and ink him long term? Or you think the should shell out some $$$ or $$$$ and go for Greinke or Sanchez? Lower but good solid innings guys are Dempster and Guthrie. whom both I like as well but deffinately not as dynamic.

I'd like to keep Jackson. It always seemed like he (amongst a few other Nats starters) either wouldn't be sufficiently warmed up or didn't have their head in it in the games they gave up teh most runs. Teams always scored the most in innings 1-3, and then it seemed like Jackson settled in. I don;t know if that's a coaching thing or game day routine or mental. But i thought Jackson was our best pitcher for a couple stretches this past season. Also, I hate to see Laroche go. I thought he was a good level headed clubhouse leader, and played a great defensive 1B on top of his offense. I really believe having him at 1B gives the infeld confidence to let the ball go knkowing if it's in reach, he'll pick it.

Man I really hate to see him go too !!!!

MCS,

No, I am ready to see him go, he gives up as much as he puts in, before we go shelling out huge bucks there may be some other options in the wings, there are also a few in the minors this past season that have impressed, but we will see, our at bat numbers are not where we need to be either, we need one or maybe two more good bats to help get us there as well, I feel we are good but still need a little more improvement to keep moving forward.

A Sanchez would be a definate improvement but, not enough IMO, if we are going to shell huge $ then lets do something for the team as a whole.

Yeah LaRoche is a huge piece, but I hear he has a shot at staying. O's said they might make La Roche an offer in that case please take Reynolds lol. Hoping the O's pull in Hamilton, long shot. But back to the Nats, I think Sanchez is asking too much for what he is and Greinke would be great, probably is too much $ for too long though. But I definitely think he will fair out much better in the NL. Excited to see Strasburg back to full strength without any limits. Hope he posts 20 wins. With him and Gio 1-2 spots in the rotation should at least be very good looks like Lannan is gone and detweiler is in the rotation

Yea I heard that too but I don't know, he is the key to our defence and one element I would like to see remain in place, honestly if not for him I don't know that we made it as far as we did.

Lannan, well? I think we could do without, Detweiler yes were good, as long as Stasburg stays healthy and Gio stays healthy it should be a good start but we will see, 20 wins I think he is able to pull that off as long as he has a good off season and finishes recouping.

NO !!!! IF YOU GIVE US REYNOLDS I WILL PERSONALLY COME TO FLA. AND WACK YOU IN THE HEAD !!!!!! LMAO !!!!

O's pull in Hamilton....hhhhmmmm, what a great addition though if you could pull that one off, good luck with that one though.

How much is Sanchez asking anyway I have not heard yet?

By the way talk O's all you want to man, I watched and showed some love over the years for the birds, as I told you before big guy, they were all I had lol !!!

Sanchez is asking in the neighborhood of 90 million. Similar to the deal that Texas pitcher (Lewis i think) got to got to Anaheim last winter. Which Sanchez hasn't had a bad yr stat wise but he also hasnt had mor than 3 full 30 start season. He is too much of an injury gamble for that price tag. But I would think a nice addition to a rotation if he can repeat last year.

Now word is the O's, Seattle and Milwaukee are the three in the Hamilton Hunt. Lol word on the O's is they declined Reynolds because he under performed with the stick. He was really good with the leather after moving to first. So the O's declined his option and wanted Hamilton to play first. I think if hamilton is a no go then your Laroche is their next target if all else fails they take Reynolds, he is arbitration eligible.

Haven't heard about possible pitching targets for the birds. Did hear whispers on Jackson as a possiblity but all is on hold for Hamilton. We did trade for a second baseman since Roberts is a perennial DL visitor and Andino didn't cut the mustard as a stater. Casilla from the Twins, he should be ok.

I have to think he is in their plans in the starting rotation. I'm sure they're praying his confidence from the playoffs will carry over to the spring. Perhaps he figured out his mechanical flaw(s).

I'm not sure how low he will go. He is still such a buzzy name, even after that terrible season. If I can get really good value on him, I'll go for it. If I drafted him and he has a good April, you can be sure I will be trying to flip Timmy quick quick quick, and try to gain some value.

It sounds like the Nats may take another run at Greinke, as well as Texas.

I would have to agree on that one, that is the reason why I would much rather see them hold out, put some of that money aside and try to keep Laroche, as far as the O's are concerned, either Hamilton or Laroche is going to be a big help to them, I just hope we keep Laroche and you are able to aquire Hamilton.

Casilla I have not been familure with, I get a few local channels and the only time I get any news of other teams is when I get the chance to get on the net, which is not very often, so if I seem behind on everything please forgive me, but what I have read seems to be positive for the O's !!!

Since I got into this conversation late, I would also like to congradulate the Giant's and their fans for a really great season and wish them the best of luck for a repete next season, AWESOME ball club !!!

BIG trade going down. Looks like Josh Johnson, Reyes, and Buehrle to Toronto.

http://www.mlbtrader...sh-johnson.html

It's final, and Bonifacio is included. I'm still shocked as heck. The Jays are stacked, and are going to score some runs.

WOW! What will that do to the fan base? Now I know the marlins still have Stanton, lee and a few others right but they will be like the NL east version of the Astros. It's cool move em up here to Jax I wanna watch baseball games n we support losers up here(Jags) lol

Sucks that Toranto is trying to make gains, but it is kinda like Boston and them flip flopped. They also had some injury issues last year. Their rotation still sux Romero stunk, morrow never can last a full season, good stats but k rate down, drabek and cecil blew, laffey and Villanueva were their best and they are a pair of long relievers lol they still have issues. But any body is better than the yanks winning the al east again.

Yea, what a doozy. If I was a local marlins fan, I would be calling for the heads of the entire front office. They get the public to fund a new stadium, sell this new look team crap on the public, and then trade away everyone in one year...talk about beyond low.

Toronto's rotation is definitely better today than yesterday. Buehrle's numbers will suffer a bit in that division, but a healthy JJ is a definite upgrade.

Imagine a 1-2-3-4 of Reyes, Lawrie, Bautista, Encarnacion...plus they need to find a spot for the speedy Bonifacio. DANG!!!

Here's a good piece on why Selig is also to blame for the mess in Miami:

Dang I need a shower after reading that I feel so dirty. Even worse I feel like a moron cuz it went on right under our nose. May you rot in hell Mr. Selig along with bonds, McGwire and clemens for dececrating the game.

I was beside myself on how MLB would even approve a trade like that. Well now I know.

So Loria cannot afford the team, we see that he dumped everyone before the back laden contracts took effect. Now what? You got a beautiful empty stadium and a crappy team? Did building the stadium increase the value of the franchise? So he could sell the team for a profit? What other motive/option would there be? Guess sit their and cash in on the TV contracts?

Congrats to R.A. Dickey and David Price.

Cool to see a knuckle baller get the CyYoung. Just goes to show u 100 mph isn't the only thing that will get a hitter out.

I seen Price pitch in person a few times he is an awesome talent, like a refined Randy Johnson and seems like a decent guy.

Well Nats signed their man LaRoche to 2 yrs, didn't hear the dollar value. Apparently Morse is expendable at 7 mil roughly next year. Shopping him for pitching prospects is the rumor. Sure would be nice if they kept him especially given the injury history of late from worth, Zimmerman and LaRoche.

  • Super User

2yrs 24 million with a mutual option for 2015 for LaRoche and the Nats.....6 teams looking for Morse...Hoping the O's are 1 of them, we have plenty of pitching prospects, something like 4 or 5 vying for the 5 spot.

Nice, at least those roid bozos are getting what they deserve and I agree Morris, Biaggio, bagwell, schilling(whom I loved watching pitch) are HOF worthy. They were good, semi great but not GREAT or LEGENDARY We know madux and glavine are worthy, have to wait til next year.

I am glad the roid heads are not getting in, yet. I don't think they ever should myself.

Schilling is not legendary in my opinion. He didn't perform spectacularly in the regular season but he was a stud in the playoffs. I also don't think biggio is a HOF caliber player. He is a compiler and not worthy of the hall. I mean if he gets in then so should Jamie Moyer....
