Super User flyfisher Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 I saw that article too. My best guess yankees fans are probably saying yeah so we can add him to the list after jeter, a-roid, rivera, Sabathia (although he is borderline cause he is pretty good) etc..... The only every day player i would take off the yankees roster is Cano, that guy is a beast all around. 1

Super User deaknh03 Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 Hi, my name is Ryan Braun and I'm a user. 2
Super User flyfisher Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 Braun just needs to change the first and last letters of his name to F & D.  He knew he was dirty before and got off on a technicality. Bsaeball needs to man up and say look first time you get busted it is 100 games and your contract is voided once your suspension is over, 2nd time you are out of baseball for 10 years. You might get some of those clowns who take in their early 20's to come back after 10 years but i doubt it and anyone approaching 30 their career is essentially over.  Or on the flip side, just say anything goes as long as it is a "doctor" program.
Super User MCS Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 Good point Fly. I think back in the Big Mac, Sosa bonds, Brady Anderson, conseco era roids were used to enhance performance more, build strength hit HRs. In recent sports it seems the PEDs are being used more for recovery, healing from injuries etc. maybe just say if it is FDA legal and a doctor uses it your good to go. Now maybe Trout is my number 1 cuz I can't afford Braun to take a seat for extended period of time lol.
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 6, 2013 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2013 Apparently he claims his only contact with that place was as a consultant during his case last year, and has nothing to hide. Even if this is the truth, it is still not a good thing to be brought up again.  On a semi-related note, Todd Helton got popped for drunk driving...and wait 'till you get a load of his mugshot: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/rockies-helton-arrested-dui-charge-193141792--mlb.html;_ylt=AvjEoby2_UUGZOj9ZailL.M5nYcB;_ylu=X3oDMTRsNmNpaXAzBG1pdANMSVNUUyBNaXhlZCBMaXN0IEZQIEhlYWRsaW5lcwRwa2cDZTg3ZDViMzItMzliNS0zY2Y5LTljMmMtOTZmMWE5ZDM0MjRiBHBvcwMyBHNlYwNNZWRpYUJMaXN0TWl4ZWRMUENBVGVtcAR2ZXIDYzFkZDk2YjAtNzA5Yy0xMWUyLTlmNzMtNTZkNmIyZjNhMTBm;_ylg=X3oDMTFpNzk0NjhtBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANob21lBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25z;_ylv=3 1

Him and Giambi look like twins all bloated up former sluggers.
Super User flyfisher Posted February 7, 2013 Super User Posted February 7, 2013 A guy who was recently accused of roids needs to stay away from anything like that to be honest. You combine that with his lack of actually fighting the test results but more the chain of command of the sample was not followed shows me that he said to himself "d**n I am busted what technicalities can we go after here." I totally agree it is more for recovery but once you see that happen why not keep using. Other sports I can see PED's as more of a survivor mentality, think football where being stronger helps you last longer but in baseball it is purely to add power numbers plain and simple. I love baseball but even on my beloved phillies my chooch jersey will never be worn again.
Super User MCS Posted February 19, 2013 Super User Posted February 19, 2013 So who are the top rookie targets? why?  I am liking Wil Myers, Billy Hamilton, Gyorko Straily, Buaer and Skaggs. I would like to get one position player and one pitcher, Tehren and the pitcher for the Cards are also intriging options.  I like Myers to give pop off the bench, Hamilton would be a sweet deal if I could steal him low enough and put a higher pick at another position. And I am liking Gyorko because of his potential for 3B #'s at the second base position.  Straily would deffinately be my top choice. I love strikeout pitchers. Skaggs number look solid too. I like Bauer because he will get innings and I think his numbers where a fluke last year.  Eaton and the cards pitcher might be too high for unproven talent for me to draft.

As a Reds fan, I would say I don't expect to see much from Hamilton this year in the majors. Don't forget, he didn't even see time in Triple A last year. The Reds are good at CF/SS as well, his two positions.

He looks like he has some pop but nothing much else. You think if hamilton has a good spring he can push him to the bench?
Super User MCS Posted February 19, 2013 Super User Posted February 19, 2013 I was pulling for the reds last year in the playoffs too. I like baker and you all brought a lot of your talent up through the system. You have a good fun team to watch there in Cinci.

You think if hamilton has a good spring he can push him to the bench? Cozart is definately going to start at short, he played well in his first full season last year. He's a decent hitter, fine defender, and still a fairly young player who I'm sure the Reds expect to improve next year.  The Reds organization seems to be firmly of the opinion that Hamilton is still a raw player. Even with an excellent Spring, no way IMO will Hamilton push Cozart, and I think the Reds want to develop Hamilton as a CF anyway. I'd be very surprised to see him up from the minors for any real length of time this year. Of course, injury can always play a factor. 1

They better do something this year though, blowing a 2-0 lead in the NLDS and losing the last three at home was enormously disappointing, and easily the most embarrasing thing I've ever seen from the Reds. Baker is lucky to have a job after that debacle.

Didn't baker have some first round quick exits with a cubs team? If they don't make it this year then I do think it is time for him to move on. But then again they will have a tough road if the match up against the Phils or Nats.
38 Super Fan Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Chapman will be starting this year, your guess is as good as mine on how that will turn out. I'm skeptical, but who knows? Â Baker managed the Cubs to the playoffs one time, they made the NLCS and were eliminated by the Marlins, I'm sure you remember the infamous Steve Bartman play which occured in game 6 of that NLCS. Baker managed the Giants too, took them to the 02 World Series where they lost to the Angels in game 7. His contract with the Reds ran out after the 2012 season, and they oddly signed him to a two year deal.
Super User MCS Posted March 1, 2013 Super User Posted March 1, 2013 This is a draft I did yesterday my first year playing rotiserrie(sp?), this was a live draft. Pitchers aren't as strong as I like as far as 1 and 2 but able to grab position players instead as it seemed all the pitchers were going 5 to 10 slots ahead of ave. in this draft. Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 4, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 4, 2013 Looks good. I am keeping a close eye on Howard. We haven't set a draft date yet, but I am pushing for as late as possible. Last year we drafted crazy early, and on cue a bunch of closers went down in spring training. Do'h!
