Time to dust off an old friend.

It's been a crazy offseason, with a ton of big names switching area codes. Who's your favorites for this season? Any big names that will bust? Who will be this year's breakout players? Anyone hold their fantasy draft yet?

I can almost smell the bratwurst. :baseball-066:

You probably didn't hear much about it this offseason, but apparently the L.A. Angels picked up a new guy who's supposed to be pretty good. I'll go ahead and pick them as my sleeper in the A.L.

Wow you're really going out on a limber there ~

I don't know if the team from Bean Town can go all the way, but if they pull another stunt like the end of last season - Heads will Roll !

Well, Winter is almost over, Spring training is in full swing, and the Tigers are leading the Grapefruit League......Looks like a one horse race in the A.L. Central.

Comerica Park is going to be rocking this Summer. The only place that will be even hotter this Summer is that 475,000 acre body of water in front of my house.

GO TIGERS!!!

If I had the number one overall pick in our fantasy draft, I wouldn't hesitate to take Miggy...now that he's 3B eligible.

You can certainly make a case for my Cardinals in the N.L., but I worry that we're too old, slow, and injury prone.

I couldn't agree more. There's no way Berkman reproduces last year's numbers, and both Beltran and Holliday stay healthy all season.

I think the Cards have a legitimate shot at the postseason this year. I'm not saying the NL Central is theirs to lose, but they could still win it and even if they don't there's the expanded postseason with two wild card slots open.

Berkman and Beltran are both injury risks, but Berkman is somewhat less of one now that he'll be starting at 1B. The Cards have quite a few young guys that they could call up should the need arise, and Allen Craig will be available to replace either Berkman or Beltran if necessary. Craig hasn't got Berkman's bat, but between Craig and Beltran there really isn't much to choose from. Actually I'd take Craig over Beltran if I could only have one, as Craig is still getting better while Beltran is on the decline.

If Berkman stays healthy, I think he's got every chance of hitting like he did last year. He was injured in 2010, and if you look at his career stats 2011 was merely a return to his normal production.

As for Holliday being a big risk to get injured, I just don't see that. 2011 was an abnormal season in that he appeared in the fewest games he's played since 2005, which was his second year. Even with his injuries last year, he still hit .296 with 22 homers and 75 RBI, and that's a pretty darn good record for only playing 124 games. Matt Holliday is really not a liability in terms of durability, especially since it's not likely that any more moths will fly into his ears.

I think the Yankees have a good shot at taking the AL east again. The Tigers are pretty much the only major league team in the AL central, and in the AL West the Rangers and Angels will likely go down to the wire. I pick the Rangers to win the division, but the Angels are not going to be easy to take out. The runner-up in the West will have to compete with the Red Sox and the Rays for one of the two wild cards.

BTW, Miguel Cabrera at 3B isn't going to be pretty. He's not as agile as he needs to be to play third base, and his bad defense will have a negative effect on his overall value. The Tigers might just as well have moved Prince Fielder to 3B for all the good he'd do defensively.

In the NL: I'll say the Phillies have at least one more division title in them. The Cardinals can win the Central if they stay healthy, and I pick the Diamondbacks to win the NL West . The wild cards should be contested between the Reds, Braves, Marlins, and Giants, and while I think the Reds and Marlins are the most likely wild cards, the Braves and Giants are very serious threats as well.

It'll be interesting to see how the new wild card format works out. Supposedly it will make every season a fight to the finish between the two wild cards in each league, but on the downside it also means that potentially the fifth-best team in one of the leagues could win the World Series.

I've got to say it at least once before my hopes are crushed...

LET'S GO MARLINS!!!

That being said, I am looking forward to opening day at the new ball park. It's absolutely gorgeous. Shame it's in a horrible location. :D

I had my fantasy draft on Tuesday night, and I'm not sure how I feel about my team. I'm still kicking myself for not taking Votto with the eighth pick. I ended up drafting Cano, but also snagged Brandon Phillips around the tenth round...filling second base early really changed the complexity of my draft, and I keep woulda-coulda-shouldaing myself.

On the plus side J Upton fell to me in the second round.

I missed out on Derek Holland in the 16th round, and I'm a little bummed about that.

Bad new for Royals fans, as Joakim Soria appears to have a serious elbow injury: http://sports.yahoo....ap-royals-soria

Also, it looks like Miggy is going to miss a little time following a scary injury yesterday: http://sports.yahoo....-cabrerainjured

I was reading something about the field where the Tigers played the phils yesterday, and I guess the condition of the infield was terrible: rocks and such. Apparently it was so bad, the Tigers almost refused to play the game; they were worried about the balls taking bad hops.

A few innings later:

Seriously? That stadium is an atrocity....

Flamenco dancers... Fish tanks... Home Run fixture.. Night Club inside the Stadium? Is it baseball or a circus?

I think you can say that about many teams with a few players on their roster who have had an injury in the past. With Waino out last year and the other injuries we had, it still turned out OK.

I concur. The over-the-topness is too much.

Washington wil be fine and should win the East, especially if the front end holds up. Their pitching has been unreal so far this year, with the exception of closing. But they're still winning without scoring. If the bats pick up to the level of the pitching (maybe get Morse back), they're going to be scary. Texas in the AL. Should be a fun year!

Ugh! Boston what to say. My beloved Red Sox are in a wash of toilet water and are going down rather than trying to fight to get out of their tailspin/hangover from last years epic collapse. I was actually glad to see the game get rained out Sunday night to save them from any more embarrassment. They were up 9-1 in the 7th inning and end up losing the game 15-9, you cant get any lower than they are right now. I cant even pull for them they are so unlikeable.

It's true...the Sawks suck...can't imagine a worse week on the job than Bobby V is having right now

I picked up H-Rod on our waiver wire as soon as Storen went down. If he can limit the walks, we will do well...that guy has some HEAT!

Now Bard is back in the pen, and the season isn't even four weeks old.

I wouldn't want Bobby's job either...not saying he's a great coach or anything.
