I normally use a double uni and have recently tried the Alberto. Both knots seem to catch on the end Guide when casting too much for my liking. Is there a way/knot to prevent this? I'm using 50lb power pro and 15 lb fluro.

You can probably do away with the leader altogether in most cases. Other times snug the Albright down tight and you can trim the tags right up flush. The knot should pass anything down to a size 4 with no problem.

My leaders are only about 8" so the knot doesn't go through the guides.

Pretty much defeats the purpose. Might as wellgo without.

lol...then go without. I use green braid in greenish water. With the end of it being 8" away I seriously doubt it causes a fish to turn down the lure.

That's my point. That short of leader is simply another junction and opportunity for failure. It's not even remotely necessary, or logical, to fish with 8" leaders.

I'm lost...

Anyway, if you're having problems tying a compact Alberto then pick one line or the other. Personally, it's never been an issue for me.

If you have problems with your knots then don't use leaders...which was my point.

If you can't get the knot through the guides then I would just go with a braid.
