Jig Weedguards

Does the color of the weedguard matter on jigs. I have made jigs in colors of blue, green, brown and black. My weedguards are black, so the only ones I was wondering about are the blue, brown and green. Will it matter if the weedguards on those are black as well?

I use black on all my jigs except swim jigs or white jigs, for those I use clear. I personally do not think a black varies that much from a green pumpkin or a brown in the water to make a difference.

Color of weedguards matter a lot more to the fishermen than the fish. I mostly use clear but sometimes black or green if I think the jig will look better.

I generally match the color of the weedguard to the color of the head IF it's a jig I'm selling. Pretty much as a rule if it's the color of the head, it will mix with the overall general scheme of the skirt. This is the ones I sell.

For my box, as stated above, the fish aren't near as picky as the fisherman. My heads are black and black guards. I can put ANY color of skirt on a black head and the two not clash. Other color heads will stand out more if the skirt is not close to them. AND the main reason I paint mine is in case I need to show samples. Otherwise unpainted works just as good......

The Weed guard is just like the Head of the Jig, It matters not what color it is. You can catch just as many Fish with a Junebug Jig with an Unpainted Head than you can with a Junebug Jig and a $100.00 Paint job on the head. Just as Jig man said, it matters a lot more to the Fisherman than it does to the Fish.
