I was curious if Bass fisherman use the side image technology. I mainly catfish but was curious if it was a useful technology for this type of fishing. My next question is have any of you that use the Humminbird had trouble with the mount provided breaking? I have had to replace mine 3 times due to cracking of the thermoplastic. I got tired of spending $300 each time it breaks so I developed my own mount.

Thank You!

I use mine non stop for bass. though i never had problems with the mounting though. I completely rely on my sideimaging for bass tournaments. It will show me specific spots on spots if that makes sense. i use it to scan points and flats for key sweetspots such as stumps and boulders. In the summer i can actually see schools of bass on ledges and creekchannels. if the bass arent super shallow i dont know how i could ever fish deep again with out my side imaging unit

Don't know yet? Just got mine installed and I'm now waiting for the ice to go out. I stumbled onto off shore bass fishing using my old electronics and was pretty darn successful so I can't wait to try this better technology. I'm actually going to learn how to use it and apply it! There are a few fisherman in my club that have them and I ask how they work and they say "Don't know how to use it yet" I can't imagine spending that kind of money and not using the technology!

Yea, I kind of use Humminbird Side Imaging for bass fishing. Bass fishing is the only fishing I do.

I have broken the plastic transom mount of the 798ci SI a couple of times, but I expect that since I fish in trees and stumps a lot.

That is a good contraption but there is a custom spring loaded mount commercially available made by Transducer Shield and Saver.

Due to the thousands of bass fishermen and crappie fishermen that use SIde Imaging, your question should have been.

"Does anyone other than me use Side Imaging for catfishing?"
