Trickerie Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Anyone know if this bait is intended to run tilted to one side? First time I threw it it was running at about a 45 degree angle, instead of 90. I tried bending the arms left, then right and this just made the bait run flat. I missed 2 hookups from fish attacking the blade, which isn't directly above the hook because of the angle its clacking against the water. Added a trailer hook, no change in how it ran. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted March 3, 2012 Super User Posted March 3, 2012 Supposedly it's supposed to run true right out of the box. What weight size did you get? A few things I do when I get one that turns over: Take a visual inspection and make sure the wire and hook are inline. As a starting point I bend the wire coming out of the lead head so it's straight. I'll do the same thing with the R-Bend, riser wire and finally the blade arm wire. I also make sure that the blades cups are the same, if 1 is bent in or out more than the other, the blade will cause too much torque on the bait and will make the bait flip over. Once I have it all straightened out, I'll test it in the water for a true track and tweek the blade arm only from there. If the above doesn't work, then I know I have a dog of a bait. You can also weigh the bait, if it's rated 3/8 oz or more then a #3 blade size should be used, if less then the #3 blade will be too big for the bait, again, causing the bait to flip over. Sorry for the long post, but I hope that helps. Quote

Now at anything but barely planning speeds it nearly flips sideways >.> I love the sound it makes. I wonder if there's any better versions of this bait out there? I got the 3/8oz version. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Maybe try trimming the skirt a bit. I heard a great tip from a pro one time that the skirt on buzz baits cause drag and the more drag the more tilt to the bait. So if you every have one tilting try trimming the skirt. 1 Quote

The Booyahs come with a 55 strand skirt which is a lot on a buzzbait, IMHO. Quote
hydrilla_killa Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I fish with a booyah buzz bait year round here in Arkansas. I use a 1/2 oz bait, and sweeten the pot with a uncle josh pork 11a pork chunk. The heavier bait runn better and the pork chunk adds drag to help the bait run more true. When in doubt slow the retrieve. Quote
endless Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Yea my wife like her Booyah and it runs true. Just give it a tuning and are you sure your not reeling to fast? Far as better not sure but I use this. A Damiki MTB noisy buzzbait in natural shad Quote
craww Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Some buzzbaits just won't run right no matter how much ya tweak em. I've found these off kilter models catch fish just as well when cast parallel to the shore where the fish approach from the side. In open water I suppose the fish get a better look and not so much. I've got 2-3 or that have been trashed by big fish to the point their unuseable lol. I had high hopes for the titantium terminators a few years back, since they were marketed not to bend. Well they don't bend, but they do run completely on their side out of the box. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 7, 2012 Super User Posted March 7, 2012 I just can't imagine fishing any buzzbait other than the MegaStrike Cavitron. http://www.megastrike.com/#!products/vstc2=cavitron-buzzbaits Quote
