Bassfisherman94 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Would like to get one of these rods but I've heard some bad things about it and some good. I was in a store earlier and they had one for sale that was broken about 6 inches from the tip. Are these good rods or cheap quality? Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 3, 2012 Super User Posted March 3, 2012 Yes they are good rods but were they selling the broken one? Quote
Bassfisherman94 Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 They had the broken one on the rack. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 The two veritas I own were put though a lot last year. Being a bank fisherman, they get a lot of abuse. Stuck into the ground while walking as well as being caught up on branches and being dropped. Ive even closed the car door on the tip of one and it was fine. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted March 3, 2012 Super User Posted March 3, 2012 I have two and I fish them hard. good rods! Quote
Phranchise1213 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I think the early batches that went out were bad but Abu apparently addressed the problem. I recently picked one up after hearing better reviews this year. Gotta love that white rod. I would however suggest looking down the guides before you buy one, they have had problems with the guides lining up properly in the past as well. Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Probably the best rod in tht $100 range, and thats coming from a St.Croix guy. I bought 3 last year just to try them and they are very light. Sensativity is okay, but can't expect perfection out of a $100 rod. Quote
psuangler91 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I'm really looking forward to using these rods, I ordered a couple off of *** for $55 each. My bass club is sponsored by tw so we get pretty good deals. If they're good enough for Ike they'e good enough for me! Quote
JaxBasser Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I love mine. Light, sensitive, and has held up to a lot of abuse so far. They seem a bit stiff though. A Medium is more like a Medium Heavy and a Medium Heavy is like a Heavy so keep that in mind when buying. Quote
SausageFingers Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Great rod - strong, light, balances well, and affordable. I've experienced the tip breaking problem on one occasion. It was right after they hit the market. Haven't had any issues since and I'm pretty tough on my gear. They do tend to run a little heavier than the rating, at least in my opinion. Quote
